Cafe Asano — Restaurant in Hakone

Came here for a breakfast and had the loveliest grandmothers looking after us. Tea and coffee were excellent, served in beautiful cups, with the smallest milk/cream jugs. For food we had cheesecake, ham sandwich and hot cakes (which is the American pancakes). It was all excellent.

Two things to bear in mind: 1) the service is slow, but you get time to enjoy the atmosphere and handpainted flowers on the walls, listening to classical music. this place is awful. elderly ladies who run the place are nice but the food and coffee were absolutely awful. we had shrimp pilaff which was a cup maybe of rice with three shrimp and a few peas. a toasted ham sandwich which was only one slice toasted, one thin slice of barely there ham and lots of ice burg lettuce and mayonnaise. as in lots of mayonnaise. Do not eat here. coffee was barely warm and tasted like drip coffee sitting on a burner too long. have no idea how this place got so many...

Great hospitality. We arrived in Yumoto today. Hungry but was too early to check into our hotel. We searched for lunch and found this cafe. The grandma was very welcoming and friendly. She even tried to speak English to us tourists. The food was simple but delicious. We love the hospitality from the grandmothers. The prices are affordable as well....
