Deli & Cafe Terrace Mitsuki — Restaurant in Hakone

An incredible experience for the price, the best hosts you can expect in true Japanese hospitality. The hotel is owned and run by a family of five and has been in the family for three generations. The father of the family and owner of the hotel picked me and my girlfriend up from the train station, the sons took us all over to restaurants, train stations. This is one of the few places in Japan where I have had the option to enjoy Onsen as a heavily tattooed individual. The rooms are traditional, luxurious and very clean and the view is absolutely amazing, the hotel is built into the actual mountain, allowing for an unobstructed view from our hotel room, cherry blossoms included. After battling with the trains to get to Hakone, all we really wanted was just some yummy food. Something about the hearty curry pulled me in and the tofu milkshake sealed the deal. On a sunny day, there's nothing better than basking in the warm sun on the terrace, listening to the trickling river and finally soaking in that you're actually on holiday.

The location and the setting makes this joint seem to be like a very bland and forgettable restaurant, but we were actually really pleasantly surprised by our teriyaki veggie burgers and potato wedges. It is probably the only vegetarian catering place you will find in a long time, and it was very filling with decent portion sizes.
