Perhaps because there are several cafes in the Hakone-Yumoto Station area, with a menu common to all Renoir cafes in Japan that does not include drinks and desserts unique to Hakone, the cafes are not so crowded on weekdays and holidays (unless there is a large-scale event). On the other hand, the window seats with a view of the Hayakawa River are very popular, and even during the free time, the window seats are often all occupied. While most cafes are completely non-smoking, this cafe has a space where smoking is allowed only for heated cigarettes. On the other hand, this cafe is located on the second floor of a building, and the only means of ascent and descent is by stairs, so it is not recommended for wheelchairs or other handicapped visitors. Those with large luggage should also leave their luggage in hotel rooms or lockers before using the cafe. The staff's customer service is very courteous and comparable to that of other Lenoirs. On the other hand, it should be noted that the restaurant closes in the evening. This is not a cafe that can be used at night in the same sense as a Renoir in the...
Read moreA great place to stop and wait for your transfer at the Hakone Yumoto station. We grabbed a few decorative coffees and calmly watched people and the river flow by.
The ambience was a perfect representation of the 50s and drew comparisons to our grandparents’ apartments growing up.
The only ding is that there is no border between the smoking vs non-smoking sections so you have to be comfortable with a light musk of cigarettes. Didn’t like, but it also kind of added the authenticity of the...
Read moreRight across from the station (footbridge over the road then left), we had the double bacon cheese on toast for breakfast, with a coffee. The bread is over an inch thick! It looks intimidating and certainly insta-worthy but it's just the lightest most beautiful bread, like brioche. And the topping was delicious. Great price, plus the window seats...
