Since our Japanese is horrible, we asked the Hotel to make a reservation. This is a service most hotels will provide, which we found very helpful. During that reservation the restaurant asked for a menu choice. Basically the menus are build the same, but the ingredients get more exclusive. We chose for the Y16.000 menu. Which was the high price range.
At the restaurant we were placed in a small room, with space for only 4 couverts, directly in front of a small kitchen. A Chef's table. Maybe it was part of the menu, but it made our experience that more special. Our chef was also head chef and owner of the restaurant.
The diner was build up out of 10 courses. Fresh raw fish, oysters, crab, grilled fish, wagyu beef, noodles, cheese and dessert. Our photos don't do the food right. It was fresh, high quality, perfectly prepared and tasted amazing. During the dinner, the chef explained the food and we could ask him everything. With our very basic knowledge of Japanese and his English (for which he shouldn't apologise), we could understand it perfectly. The chef was really loose and it felt that he was almost freestyling our dinner according to our needs.
Service was impeccable, very precise, but not stiff or too formal. We started with a very good glass of champagne, I then asked for accompanying Sake, my wife sticked to wine. The choices were excellent and a good fit. All in all the whole dinner was about Y50.000, which we felt was more than fair. One of the best culinary experience we have had.
