All of the positive reviews are right - the couple behind the bar is both extremely knowledgeable about the drinks they serve, and also very lovely and thoughtful. They spoke to us the whole night using Google translate and taught us a lot about the history of Japanese whiskey and gin - anything you ask about any alcohol, you’ll likely get an answer! We got one of the bar special cocktails and a couple glasses of old fashioned - these have been mixed slightly differently every time they were made (with the couple behind the bar asking for our preference first). We missed out on the Sakurao brewery and distillery tour earlier that day so he used google translate to give us a detailed history of the facility and a vast history of local makers. He even lined up different ranges and let us taste test.
