It's a small and quiet place to dine in. Probably could only sit 16-20 pax the most.
Ambience is calming. The moment you stepped into the store, you could smell the charcoal, and you know.... this is the right place for the perfect eel and beef rice.
The portion was just enough, but a 1.5size would have been better, as the food is REALLY GOOD!
I cant decide if i prefer the rice in ochazuke style or just at its own. But on overall, it definitely worth a second visit to this place.
It serves best of both worlds! Perfect grilled beef and eel. I love it!
We ordered the 2700 yen one and the 3200yen. The 2700 yen is way more fatty and oozing with beef oil. It's also full of charcoal taste. Whereas the 3200yen one, is perfectly done in medium rare. Almost melt in the mouth!
I will return to this place...
Read moreThe best unagi I’ve had throughout my entire Japan trip. The A5 roast beef paired perfectly with the freshly grated wasabi and spring onions. It was also the first time I was taught to eat unagi traditionally with dashi and it changed the whole eating experience. It was such a refreshing meal.
The restaurant has a waitress who spoke perfect English with the brightest smile. (I didn’t manage to get her name. 🥹) She was very welcoming and explained clearly on what was offered in their menu. They also offer a Chinese menu for Chinese folks.
The atmosphere was cosy and relaxing, with really traditional design which I like. Overall it was a very heartwarming meal and money well spent.
Definitely recommend anyone who wants an out of this world unagi...
Read moreLovely restaurant, I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the service, and most importantly, the food. The restaurant serves mainly eel (unagi) and beef sets, which also include rice (eel and beef are put on rice), miso, pickles, and a dashi stock you can make ochazuke with. This variety makes every bite of the meal joyous and delicious, a whole experience. The set can be made eel-only if you ask for it. The waitress was very kind, sunny, and spoke perfect natural English ^^ There's a decent drink menu with all the necessary drinks and two types of ice cream for desert, including one with baked sweet potato, the Kawagoe speciality. I think we experienced some of the best Kawagoe could offer...
