One of the best—if not the best—ramen we had during our Japan trip last March 2025. As a couple who loves garlic, my wife and I definitely enjoyed the Kumamoto Tonkotsu Ramen. It was the perfect way to end our day trip in Kumamoto before heading back to our BnB in Fukuoka.

We truly loved their ramen. The garlic intensified the flavor and added just the right amount of heat to the broth. We also ordered the Boiled Pork Fillet Rice (which I forgot to take a photo of—good thing I captured the menu where it looked exactly the same!). This dish is a must-try: the savory pork with fresh egg was so tasty that we almost ordered another bowl, but we were already full.

As visitors in Japan, we also appreciated the atmosphere. Watching the staff prepare our food right in front of us was such an experience. Everything was freshly made, and the service was superb.

If only I were wealthy enough, I’d fly back and forth just to eat here. A highly recommended place to visit if you’re ever...

This restaurant in Kumamoto Station is amazing! It's easy to find, located in the food zone on the right-hand side. I was lucky to arrive before noon and didn't have to wait in line (but the line was long after I finished eating).

I ordered the basic ramen. They also have other menus such as spicy ramen, chashumen, and gyoza.

When the food arrived, the first thing I noticed was the strong garlic smell. People who don't like garlic might not like it, but I love it.

The soup is smooth and not too thick, but with a clear flavor. The noodles are thin, typical of this region, and cooked al dente, so they're chewy and delicious. The price is also reasonable at 900 yen.

Overall, I highly recommend...

Been there in the evening (near 6-7pm) of weekdays. No queue. No Eng menu but google translate is understandable. Only two kinds of ramen: spicy or not. Can add topping if you like. I ordered non-spicy ramen. The bowl was big for regular-sized woman. The soup was delicious. The noodles were OK. The staffs are young people and seem to full of energy. They were all working for the whole time that I was sitting and eating at the counter.

Only few drawbacks are that it is a small shop and I think there's only counter seat, which may not be suitable for someone with...
