when you step into the restaurant it feels like you are going to your grandmother's house because you literally are. the restaurant is ran by a small granny and her son and the food tastes like the granny made with a TON of love. the granny works super hard, taking orders, going back into the kitchen to cook, at the cashier, she is all over the place. despite that, the food tastes immaculate. the chicken tastes SO juicy and sweet, and the veggies doesn't even taste like you're eating the vegetables at all. don't go to the modernized restaurants, support small local restaurants like hers where the food tastes fresher, more traditional and you get a real feel of how local people eat at kusatsu. some cons (that isnt the restaurant's fault) is that you might have to wait 15+ minutes for your food because theres only two people running the whole restaurant, she may also close VERY early, dinner services ended around 7:30pm when we went simply because the granny couldn't handle more than 7 tables. the menu has no english, but i recommend anything on the menu that has photos of the food (those are the granny's specialties). like I mentioned, support local restaurant businesses who has to offer so much more than the modernized...
Read moreA local yakitori and chicken restaurant, this is a nice, quaint, cozy family-run restaurant! They serve a variety of local chicken dishes, with one of their staples being a Yakitori bowl, which is skewered grilled (or charcoaled) chicken over rice. Their chicken is incredibly plump, juicy, and tender, and the sauce was a nice, light glaze that accentuated the chicken without overpowering it. They have a wide variety of other chicken dishes and meals, but the menu is only in Japanese.
A little off of the beaten path and away from most of the tourists, this is a great location for a meal that is refreshing and relaxing, without the crowds and business of tourists!

Read moreI went to this restaurant on 10 March after I arrived in Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal. even though restaurant does not allow reservations, we managed to get a seat for 6 persons immediately. I ordered the Yakitori Don Set. Owner told us this has limited quantity and my family was the last to order this. Food took 45mins to 1hour to come. Food came and it was excellent. Yakitori was well grilled and delicious. Soup was fragrant.
