The food was great and the location is very nice and inviting, but the service was lacking and it was hard to hear what my companion was saying because of other loud customers.
They were also sold out of many meat options early in the evening on a normal day.
Normally, I wouldn't complain about service, but in Kyoto, and most everywhere in Japan really, you always get amazing service, so it was very noticeable when they forgot basic things like the warm towel for our hands.
I also think, for what they charge for food, service should be top. I think, if you want Yakiniku, there are many other places that are better for the same price.
With just a slight change in the waiters attitudes and the way they ensure other customers are behaving, it could be a fantastic place, but right now I would not recommend...
Read moreThis place was just around the corner from our Kyoto hotel and about a 7 min walk from Kyoto station (not the tower side). They have a la carte and a set menu (available in English). We were told they specialise in beef, so we got the beef only set... And man do they specialise in beef! Every cut we got was so amazingly tender. The set comes with a salad, sauces and assorted pickles as well. It gets busy on Fri, Sat, Sun so you'll need to make a booking which your hotel can do, but you might get lucky if you go before 5:30pm.
