和たり — Restaurant in Kyoto

Due to an unfortunate series of events upon our arrival in Kyoto, we found ourselves wandering the streets late at night searching for an open restaurant. After being turned away from several establishments, we stumbled upon Osake Wine Dining. It turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. Although there was no english menu or pictures, the chef/owner made such an effort to understand what we wanted. Everything we were served was delicious and his sake recommendations were on point. Absolutely loved our dinner at Watari! The food was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the owner and staff are just the loveliest people. Even without an English menu, they made everything easy and enjoyable.

The sake selection was a real highlight—such a great range, and the owner gave us personalized recommendations throughout the night. It truly felt like being part of a family dinner.

Because we can not read any japanese we asked the chef for some omakase (chef’s choice) and we were not disappointed. Some sashimi, wagyu beef, airy tempura, rootvegetables with fish in broth and the most scrumptious pork belly later we are almost dancing and singing because of all the flavours.
