Banh Mi Quynh — Restaurant in Kyoto

What a hidden gem! Visiting from Vancouver with a distinct robust Vietnamese foodscene we were not expecting to find outstanding delicious Vietnamese food in Kyoto, Japan. Banh Mi Quynh had us eating our words. We ordered the chicken pho, fried spring rolls and char siu banh mi. I've never had thought of incorporating char siu into banh mis but that was deliciously mind blowing. My Vietnamese girlfriend said she could "eat 10 bowls of pho ga (chicken pho)" if she could. The chicken pho is the best I've personally tasted - even better than what I've had in Vancouver! Soft tender pieces of white-meat with perfectly cooked noodles swimming in the hot broth. When plan B works out better than any plan A. While sightseeing we misses a stop and decided we should eat before moving on. How wonderful it was to find Bahn Mi Quynh. The friendliest, most peaceful place to dine. The store is small but beautifully decorated. The food is outstanding and we couldn't fault the food or drinks. Bánh mì xá xíu ngon ơi là ngon! Okay! This cute place with all the decorations did brought us back to the old 90s Vietnam vibe. We did not expect anything but “the bánh mì” is really good. We got “Bánh mì xá xíu” and “Bánh mì gà nấm”. Both of them is super crunchy, the pork is soft but not dried, super juicy. The sauce is well balanced: not to sweet but not to salty.
