A lovely new hotel with a great decor. I love how the designs seem to be modern but with the old world Kyoto flourish to them.
Overly heated reception and hallways, but otherwise no complaints. The staff are friendly and have translators ready to go for conversing with non-Japanese speakers like myself.
The room was spacious and the bed not only large but the comfiest I've experienced in all my years travelling to Japan. The lights and control thereof were lovely (although labels would be handy!) and the bathroom was great. The shower is the best I've ever experienced. Having water fall directly above whilst still having another one pointing wherever is great.
The hotel is basically in between two train stations with a hill in between. Those with large luggage beware. It's also a rather sleepy little town, so make sure to utilise the bus system and head to where everything is. But it's nice to stay somewhere quiet, so I'd still recommend this place and would...

They have free coin laundry and dryer, free coffee, good amenities, and they loan you the most comfortable sleepwear I've ever donned in my entire life.
I'm not giving full stars, however, due to what others have also said about location. It doesn't have the greatest connections to public transport and you will find yourself walking about 10-15 minutes on average from the nearest station in order to get back here.
It's a relatively short (25 minutes) and pleasant walk from Gion, and there are a couple of attractions along your way, including your usual assortment of shrines, temples, gardens, and the Kyoto National...
Read moreTruly a great experience with this hotel. The entire process is automated and no interaction with any staff, didn’t see one person there. We checked in using the tablet in the lobby, simple process, got our room number and other information and walked in to the room. Very cool. Hotel is ina quiet neighborhood, nothing convenient close by. There is no breakfast offered, so you have to plan it. The room are immaculately clean, and so are the bathrooms. All amenities are included and there is a coffee machine in the lobby. There is also a self service, lockable baggage storage in the lobby. Beautiful, a place I would...
