My friend found this restaurant and made a booking, I came to be surprised :D ! A restaurant is very cozy and you will get to sit directly in front of their open kitchen, it felt like a Chef's table because we were the only people there at the time (another 2 guests just finished the dinner when we arrived) so we got to have real conversation (with help of translation app but that's part of the beauty - if you want to connect, there is always a solution) with Chef Nozoki and his sous chef Ichida. We can tell they love what they do. We truly appreciated the meal and all the dishes were SUBARASHI ! (“Wonderful” in Japanese) Very delicate, well rounded flavor amuse bouches, soup and we had Wagyu beef sirloin for main course. The dessert was matcha tiramisu was perfect to end the meal. The whole meal was just right amount and was the best way to feel at the end of the day. Thank you Chefs! I hope to come back next time when in Kyoto in the future.
Ps. Not often I'd see the restaurant chef opening a bottle of wine and serving the guests or remove the plates...but I saw it here and I am very impressed. The team culture in Japan and Japanese culture is strong, I...
Read moreWhat a wonderful meal. My wife and I wanted to branch out from normal Japanese cuisine on our trip and we happened to stumble upon this gem the night before and were intrigued. We highly recommend.
You must call for a reservation so we did the next day. The staff is not fluent in English but my wife knows French and we used Google translate to speak back and forth to get by.
It is a very intimate experience, only seating 8-10 people. The chef is wonderful and you can observe him as he prepares each course from the counter. Everything was delicious and it was one of our favorite French meals against anything we've had in New York or Paris. He incorporated several seasonal Japanese ingredients. I believe the menu is new every evening but I am not sure. Each course was fantastic and they made it a special experience.
They suggested a cocktail bar afterwards just down the street that we never would have found otherwise and it was...
Read moreAmazing Dining experience in Kyoto! We discovered the Bistro n/n by chance and spontaneously made a reservation for the next day. Best decision! We had the best dinner of our whole trip to Japan! The menu is lovingly prepared by the chef himself and the service and atmosphere are exceptional. Every course was a highlight on its own. We especially liked the variation of different appetizers and the Wagyu Beef. We can only recommend going there, it is truly a hidden gem in Kyoto! Thanks so much for the lovely evening and...
