This is quite possibly the best stay we have ever had at a hotel!
Do not let the three star rating of the hotel fool you. Both the service and rooms are 5 star worthy.
Ryo the manager is super service minded and helped us with both recommendations on restaurants in the area, as well as restaurant reservations and taxi services. He is also pretty much fluent in English which is rather uncommon in Japan.
Breakfast was delivered to the room every day at the time of our choosing, fridge was refilled daily with a large selection of drinks (beer, sake, sparkling wine, bourbon, soft drinks and more).
The room in itself was fantastic, we stayed in a suite/family room, where the kids slept in their own area on tatami mats with mattresses which they enjoyed, while we slept in a huge double bed. The room had a nice bar/kitchen area, large tv, comfortable sofa. Separate toilet and bathroom. Everything is very clean and feels luxurious, especially the bathroom which had both shower and a bubble bath, double vanity, etc. Everything you might need is available in the bathroom, including hairbrushes, toothbrushes, etc.
I can't recommend this hotel enough. If we ever go back to Kyoto we will most certainly return here.
Thank you Ryo for a fantastic...
Read moreWe loved our stay at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and ours was equipped with a small kitchenette which we used daily. The front desk attendants and hotel staff are all very kind and helpful. We didn’t use housecleaning service daily and we appreciated that the staff left us a fresh set of towels, pjs, soap, coffee refills outside our hotel room. The breakfast was tasty as well! After our daily excursions, it was nice knowing we had a comfortable place to rest at the end of the day - the beds are SO comfy that I’d wake up well rested the next day. I’m even thinking about buying a new mattress back home now 🤣.
Hotel Muso is in an extremely convenient location - near bus lines, Gojo Station, Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, Kawaramachi Station, walking distance to Gion, restaurants, etc. There’s also a corner coin laundry and grocery store just a block or two up from the hotel. There’s also a 7/11 a few doors down. We really had everything we needed and it made our stay in Kyoto trouble-free. Our stay at this hotel really solidified our great experience in Kyoto. Would not hesitate to...
Read moreMy wife and I absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was fantastic, but I have to mention the staff first. Everybody went over and above to ensure our holiday was perfect. Thank you to all of you.
The room was big and bright and lovely. A very comfy (HUGE) bed, and perfect bathroom.
The location could not be better. A short walk to Kawaramachi station, and all the restaurants, bars and shops around there. But also just cross the river and you're surrounds by shrines and temples.
If I had one piece of feedback, which is not a criticism, but more of a suggestion... it would be about the room cleaning. We're people that don't need it every day, and that's fine of course. And when we put up the sign saying that we didn't, there was always a package of coffee and water top ups, plus extra towels. All I would say is that you don't need to leave fresh towels every day! We had so many at one point! Perhaps only leave them if requested? But do keep leaving the extra coffee and water!
Thanks again for a perfect stay. p.s. Kyoto was our favourite place we...
