Café Jingu-michi / Quality Chadogu Art Gallery — Restaurant in Kyoto

We happened to find this restaurant by chance while walking in the area and this restaurant was by far the best pleasant surprise in our entire Japan trip. It was open at 2pm on a Tuesday when the other nearby restaurant were closed or did not have enough food for a group of six people. We ordered 2 of the lasagna, 2 of the chicken curry, and 2 of the hot beef sandwiches, plus the ice cream and waffles and a matcha latte. Super delicious. Prepared just for us as we were the only guests at the time. Highly recommend that you stop by this place for a meal that is near the tourist site Heian Shrine, but it is not a dumping ground for masses...

A great café that blends food and culture! 'Quality Chadogu Art Gallery' was on my list of ceramics galleries to visit while in Kyoto. I was certainly not disappointed! Gil さん, the owner, has a wonderful and carefully curated selection of Japanese potters, reflecting 20 years of experience dealing with ceramics and interacting with artists. He was most kind and generous in showing me around, and I've had a fantastic time discussing and learning more about Japanese pottery with him. Cute, delicious Italian food cafe that just opened up in Higashiyama. The food is homemade and portions are large. The salmon quiche and the beef lasagna lunch sets were amazing. The vibe is uniquely Kyoto shop style, which makes an interesting contrast with the menu. Apparently the owner did the interior himself. Run by a really friendly couple. Husband is a native English speaker and also speaks Japanese. Wife is Japanaese. Located right in front of the bus station and a straight walk to the Heian Shrine. We will be back as often...
