I came here after seeing that the place supposedly had vegetarian and vegan soba options. When I arrived, I asked—using Papago translation—if there was anything vegetarian or vegan, explaining clearly that I don’t eat meat or fish. At first, the staff suggested a dish with duck (!), which I declined. After checking further, they told me that all soba dishes are made with fish stock in the broth.
I ordered soba anyway, but what I asked for (hot soba) was served as cold soba instead. I didn’t mind too much, but there was no explanation of how to eat it. In the past, when I had cold soba, it was served differently and was explained step by step, but here there was no guidance at all.
Later, they gave me the liquid from boiling the soba, which you’re supposed to mix with the dipping broth and drink for its nutritional value.
The only possibly vegetarian option was a small rice and egg dish, but none of the soba dishes qualify.
Bottom line: if you are vegetarian or vegan, this place is not suitable if you like to get soba as a dish, since every soba dish...
Read moreThe egg was great! We didn’t wait in line luckily. There is a table charge for outdoors for 550 yen now as of 2024 instead of 300 yen. Gorgeous full moon outside. Too many bugs so we opted for indoors.
Under their recommended menu, there is a beef and conger/ eel rice set. Honestly, the eel with shredded eggs is bland, utterly bland. If I have to season something myself then you didn’t cook a meal. The eel texture is not at all fluffy. Even if you grilled it, it shouldn’t end up this way.
As for the beef, you could get this beef rice at a fast food chain and it would taste better. The cold soba that came with the beef bowl was dry and hard to eat.
They’re really training your jaw muscles here. Surprising for being promoted as hand made soba spot. Price is also high for the taste. I would come here for the small...
Read moreFirst of all you have to queue up for a bit at lunch time Staffs are friendly, service is good Beautiful outdoor seating but it cost extra 300yen per head which we don’t mind at all However, the food itself just not worth the effort My eel set is bad. Look at the picture, eel on rice is totally flavourless . I only had half of it and my partner helped me to finish the rest so we don’t waste.
The tempura sets not recommended as well. Tempura isn’t fresh/crispy enough. There is no sauce comes with the tempura. Cold soba noodles sticks together. Maybe try avoid the set if you really want to come. Each set coat 2300 yen. It’s very expensive compare to...
