TL;DR - Agree on retro vibes, really solid diner-type experience, friendly, warm service.
We stopped here for a bite after checking out Chion-in, just as the weather was turning cold and sprinkling rain.
The hashed beef with rice tasted a bit like beef stew, a bit like American-style bolognese, but was tasty and filling in its own right—definitely comfort food!
The fried rice was fried with egg, ham, carrot, and green pepper—really finely cut, think brunoise, but slices, not cubes.
The pancakes were made fresh to order and came with a pat of salted butter and syrup. They’re not soufflé pancakes, but very fluffy, light, and perfectly browned.
We noticed some locals filtering in and chatting, which against the retro backdrop that other reviewers have mentioned, made for a very cozy experience.
If I lived locally, this would definitely be a regular haunt. The only downside for me was that the seats and tables are quite low, so if you’re 180cm/6 feet-ish or taller, maybe stretch first before sitting down.
