Across from Arashiyama train station and stopped in to check it out. They have authentic ginger ale with actual ginger in it, it was fantastic. Got a ham sandwich which was basic but good, still cant understand why you cant get cheese on a sandwich anywhere in japan, but oh well. It came with a little salad which was yum. Got a cappuccino, too. Place is dated and nothing special but quiet, nice jazz music and lots of different drinks/desserts on the menu.

Great service, great people, great food, I wish there were a few more options however, you cant go wrong with this place. It is about a 10 minute walk from bamboo forrest and there is less foot traffice near this area so there isnt as many tourist.

It has a feel of an old colonial cafe, just outside the Arashimaya Train Station… Food is average. We enjoyed some snacks and scones with coffee/tea at the end of our walk, before boarding the train. It was a nice warm/sweet end to the day.

It has a feel of an old colonial cafe, just outside the Arashimaya Train Station… Food is average. We enjoyed some snacks and scones with coffee/tea at the end of our walk, before boarding the train. It was a nice warm/sweet end to the day.

I couldn't find any other restaurants serving breakfast on this part of Arashiyama, and not many serving lunch with reliable hours, so Cafe Ranzan kind of has the market cornered.

The food and drinks are good but are a little overpriced, in my opinion. Quality of service varies depending on who is...

We came here very late at 5:30, and despite shutting at 6 they let us in to eat even though last orders must have been called. We ordered the beef curry and omelette rice which was hot, full of flavour and came out within minutes of ordering! Totally recommend if you are visiting the bamboo...
