What a little hidden gem that is open late night. If you are staying at the onsen across from the train station, and did not book dinner, this was one of the few places close by, open for dinner. Up the road to the side of the train station, which looks more like an alleyway, but it's actually a road. This place is not huge, and I believe they do carry out as well. We ordered the braised beef tendon, large Yukke box and 100g of Wagyu sirloin. Every single item was absolutely delicious! The beef tendon was so soft with deep savory flavors. I could have eaten a large bowl of just that! The yukke was seasoned perfectly, sitting on top of hot rice with a beautiful raw egg yolk on top, begging to be stirred in. The meat was super tender and flavorful and when all mixed together was just a perfect bite. The Wagyu sirloin was perfectly cooked. You could see the intense marbling of the meat and it just melted in your mouth. You needed nothing but a little salt on it. So happy to have stumbled on this little place. Looks like it's owned by a young couple who really...
Read moreThis amazing place is a little walk away from the famed bamboo forest, but boy is it worth the trek. Took us about 25 minutes of a scenic, lovely walk to get here for lunch after sightseeing this morning.
We ordered from their “lunch time service” menu, which came with decent discounts and free flow rice for all dishes. I ordered the first item, and it came with instructions that the friendly owner explained patiently in simple English. Following the instructions, you get to enjoy the dish three ways, then decide on which way is your favorite and go ahead and finish your meal that way.
My wife ordered item 3, the grilled wagyu (150g). It was nicely sliced and melt in your mouth tender. The seasoning was perfect too!
Unfortunately the only photo I took was of the drink I ordered, which came with a 100y discount because of the lunch service menu.
If you’re up for a walk for amazing wagyu dishes, I highly...
Read moreAn excellent restaurant to at a great price point! They were incredibly friendly and an English menu is available. The beef is well seasoned and the variety of ways of eating it offered variation to the flavours. The dashi was especially well made, not overpowering and compliments the rice and beef well.
About portion sizes, the large size is not just for show, they are generous with their portions of good quality beef.
Also their potato salad was excellent as well! Creamy and tangy! I imagine their Japanese style hamburgers are really good as well as we saw a local family order the set for takeaway.
If you're around arishyiama, take the time to come to this local store, it's definately a highlight...
