I visit the Meguro (Tokyo) store a few times a week so thought I would try this one too given I was in the area. It seems to be in a hotel so there were much more people in the morning than in Tokyo but there’s significantly more seating so this isn’t really an issue.
I ordered the same as I usually do, a flat white (Brazil beans) and toast set. I wasn’t told anything about a wait time but my flat white came 20 minutes after ordering and my toast 40 minutes after ordering. At this point there were hardly any people here and whilst a delay is reasonable in some circumstances, this is literally just toast which requires minimal effort. Not communicating this is poor from the staff.
I was going to give this a 3 star review based on the above, but I bring this down to 2 due to a difference in treatment with other customers. A Japanese couple came in around the time I received my flat white and received their orange juice almost instantly, but their toast set around 30 minutes later. This is on par, except the staff member apologised profusely to them and gave them both an additional glass of orange juice to make up for the wait.
In terms of taste, the flat white at the Meguro store is made much better. I wasn’t a fan of this, though the price with the toast set is very reasonable.
Wouldn’t recommend to come...
Read moreMy visit to Coffee Base BnA in Kyoto left a lasting impression. Tucked away on the first floor, this coffee shop offers a snug retreat for coffee aficionados. The range of coffee beans available was remarkable, each with its own distinct profile, showcasing the care they put into their brews.
The food, however, was an unexpected highlight. The smoked salmon with cheese was exceptional, combining flavors that were both bold and delicate. The black terrine, rich and savory, was another delight that stood out for its quality and taste.
Despite the focus on coffee, it's clear that Coffee Base BnA doesn't compromise on their food offerings. This spot is a gem for anyone looking to indulge in excellent coffee and equally...
Read moreI was looking for a place to cool off and wait before a dance rehearsal, and I just happened upon this nice cafe after I noticed the one I originally had in mind was closed. And I’m so glad I did! I ordered the iced lemonade and coffee terrine, and both were so refreshing. The gentleman at the counter was nice and wiped down my table for me. On top of the stylish, modern vibe, it was also quite peaceful. There were about ten people total in the space when I was there, but it didn’t feel crowded or loud. Great place to get out of the chaos of the Kawaramachi area.
Note that all kinds of credit cards are accepted, which I feel can be a bit of a gamble in this area. Also free WiFi, which...
