Fresco Teramachi — Local services in Kyoto

Extremely rude check-out clerk at 8PM on 16 October 2023, at the counter near the corner.

We thought the payment kiosk was for self check-out (there was even a bar code scanner), so we went there to scan our items. The lady clerk yelled from the top of her lung “GET BACK!” to us repeatedly, seemingly insinuating that we were trying to steal ¥500 worth of goods. We went back to the line, confused, but she kept on yelling until we had to go all the way to the back of the line (?!)

There was another review 6 months ago about this exact issue, but apparently nothing changed. This lady needs to get fired; this has left an extremely sour taste of...

While in Kyoto, this was the grocery store I stopped by the most. It was great to just shop like a local and pick up random ingredients that I don't typically see in most U.S. grocery stores. Such as different types of tofu (I didn't even know that was a thing) like fried, soft, and firm. Konnyaku, tons of Asian spices, a variety of different soy sauces, kishimen noodles, bento boxes, Japan based potato chips (such as plum flavour), and way more!

They don't have many international food ingredients, so do keep that in mind. Anyways, it's a good grocery...

Avoid checking out with the female cashier - she was incredibly rude and screamed (no exaggeration, it was so loud she turned heads) at us as we were trying to figure out the checkout system. We weren’t rude or disrespectful in any way prior to her outburst. She had absolutely zero patience and understanding for foreigners and was one of the most emotionally immature adults I’ve ever met. Would give zero stars if I could because of this...
