Kamee Coffee is a great little coffee shop, often frequented by those of us that attended the nearby Genki Japanese Language school. The staff is always incredibly friendly, always offering service with a smile, and are able to speak and understand English (way better than my Japanese!). The coffee itself is delicious, although I tend to primarily get espresso when frequenting coffee shops. My only experience with the food has been a slice of the purple sweet potato tart, which was honestly quite tasty and tasted “homemade”. The setting itself has that industrial esthetic that’s now very common in the West (for better or worse), but it’s an overall enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere with many spots to sit (ranging from tables, to bar counter/stools, to couches). They do play music, but it’s played at a low level, allowing you to easily converse with others if you want to. And I find the selection of music to be great too (jazz/blues to classic rock such as The Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Elvis, etc…) I’ve been a frequent visitor during my current stay in Kyoto, and will probably be one again during future...
Read moreI was completely gaslighted by the staff. I ordered an eggs toast at the counter. They brought me a piece of toast with cheese and tomatoes and salami on top. After I told them I wanted an eggs sandwich, the waiter told me I had ordered the pizza toast instead and that her colleagues asked me twice to confirm. Obviously that wasn’t my recollection of facts. I never would have ordered a pizza toast in the first place since I do not eat meat… but there was no point in further arguing as they do not put customers first. Disappointing experience… culinary and service wise. I ultimately had the bread by removing the salami and toppings as I already paid for it and I was starving… not recommended overall. Bad customer service. Why would I lie about what I had ordered? There had been obvs a misunderstanding… it would have taken nothing for them to make me happy… but they...
Read moreThe cafe offers standard coffee but provides substandard services at expensive prices. I ordered a cup of coffee and a piece of biscotti.
Come to think of it, a staff member of this cafe attempted to usher me away multiple times in an indirect manner. I was sitting just beside the return area. Every time she approached the shelves, she noisily picked up plates and cups repeatedly. Eventually, she said, 'I’ll take away your empty dish and cup.'
I admit I stayed longer than expected, but her behavior was very rude and unprofessional.
Another staff member who brought my dish to the table was not friendly at all. Despite seeing me wiping the table, she didn’t offer to help. Moreover, the table was wobbly, causing my coffee to spill. The table needs prompt fixing.
All in all, I would not...
