Great location on quite street, good variety restaurants nearby (try the wood fire pizza at Amore Kiyamachi Kyoto...better than my local in Melbourne, we were pleasantly surprised) and walking distance to Shijo Dori street (restaurants & shops of central Kyoto).||Bed is rock hard, like sleeping on the floor, believe the reviews. We used the bedding in the wardrobe (used for sleeping on tatami mats) and put it on the bed....still extreme uncomfortable as were used to a pillow top support mattress. Some won’t find the bed an issues, others will wake up sore like we did!||Seperate toilet to bathroom, washer/dryer in bathroom (dryer takes a long time, I would use the 3hr setting & it work really well) low ceiling wet room (seperate small style Japanese bath tub & shower). Damp smell coming from wet room though no visible mould? Once doors to balcony were open damp smell disappeared.||Compact kitchenette that has sink, kettle, drip coffee maker, stove top, microwave, frypan, saucepan, plates, cups/glasses & all the utensils needed. ||Great for longer term stay or just a few nights, we stayed for 7 nights & they cleaned room on a day we selected, you can ask for fresh towels when ever you needed them. ||If you like a rock hard bed then this is a great place & sitting out in the balcony is fantastic. If the bed was comfortable this would have got...
Read moreThis is our third time to Kyōto and the first time we have been satisfied with the accommodation in this city. We stayed in a deluxe mountain and river view room, which was huge and really comfy for our party of 5 which included 2 little kids. The views are superb, being on the river and hearing the flowing water which is so relaxing. We could see right into the mountains, like the wooden platform temple and the kyozen-Kannon statue. It’s got the best location, walking distance to the shopping district and old town where the temples are. Being our third time in Kyoto, we know better than to use the buses here and took a taxi to the hotel. Kyōto has a horrible bus system so we either walked or took the trains or subway. The room is self contained, with microwave and stove top and being in Japan, all the appliances are top quality. Like everywhere in Japan, beds are a little hard but we liked that. The only cons are there’s no dryer and the shower water pressure is low, but that is in line with the hotel’s environmental values so we didn’t mind, especially when location, view and room size alone already make this...
