Kissa Kishin Kyoto — Restaurant in Kyoto

This cafe was an amazing "hidden gem", I almost hesitate to be praise it because when I come back on a future trip I don't want it to be too busy. But the food was wonderful, the coffee was great, and the staff was polite and welcoming. The cafe is clean, cute, and aesthetically pleasing, with large windows letting in the soft morning light. The pumpkin miso is something I will be craving for awhile. It was the most delightful full breakfast of my trip with a wonderful cup of coffee. We took some beans home as a souvenir and I look forward to grinding those up and enjoying it again. It was pricier than many breakfast options in the area but worth every yen for certain. Love this wonderful little kissaten.

Update 4/21/24: Was able to make good on my desire to return on another trip. Still a wonderful cafe, with a fantastic breakfast and wonderful staff with familiar faces. Extremely peaceful place, though some people failing to parent their child who was being very loud and disruptive was quite unfortunately ruining my quiet morning, I can't fault the wonderful staff for that. Here is hoping I can continue to come back on more future visits to Japan....

The ice cube of my latte is also made from coffee. The bread smells sooo good. The signature dish: omelette is so soft, even the grilled vegetables are well seasoned. I wish to have it everyday!

The best breakfast I have had on my month-long trip through Asia! I don’t even like French Toast but when I walked in, it smelled so incredible that I had to order it. It was outstanding. Ham and ricotta and grilled pineapples… the toast itself was so perfectly cooked and almost creamy on the inside. I will keep thinking about this French Toast haha. Also fantastic iced coffee- I LOVE when the ice cubes are also made of coffee. Beautiful ambiance and kind staff. Thank you so much for the amazing meal!

*I came back a second time! I got the fruit and granola bowl and it was amazing- the granola is light and crispy. Great variety of fruits....
