TOURIST TRAP - I would definitely not recommend coming here. We were looking forward to this meal in Kyoto as a special celebration prior to going on our holiday as the restaurant described a luxury experience. The reality fell short of our expectations. This was by far the worst and most expensive meal we have had in Japan at ¥16000 per person including the mandatory drink. Tables are sticky and floors are dirty. The first round of crab was good which is why I give the food 2 stars, but in the second round we were served ice cold, frozen solid king crab and when we called the first waitress over, she said "oh hold on a second" and left to attend to another table. We waited 10 minutes of our limited eating time before calling again, and after explaining the situation to the second waitress, she asked us if we wanted to pay ¥300 to add on the extra grill? We insisted that we couldn't eat the crab so she ended up taking it back and bringing us a new serving but this already took about 15 minutes of back and forth. In the end, there was no explanation or accommodation given to us despite this massive oversight.
The other seafoods were lacklustre and not fresh, served with disproportionate amounts of rice to fill us up. We left full but...
Read moreThis was my first time enjoying an all-you-can-eat crab buffet on this trip to Japan. The food was excellent, whether it was the cooked dishes, sushi, or crabs. I really liked everything. After finishing the first plate of crab, we ordered a second plate, which was served quickly. We ate the crab meat fairly fast, and about 30 minutes before the last order time, we placed a third order. However, it took more than 10 minutes for the third plate to arrive. Additionally, we ordered three kinds of sushi, but only two were served (the sea urchin was removed). It wasn’t until we pressed the service button that the crab was finally brought to our table. Despite this, we did not waste any food.
After finishing all the crab, there were 30 minutes left to dine after the last order time. Even though we were still within the allotted time, a man with long hair and earrings cleared away all of my tableware without asking, even though I was clearly still eating. It made me feel like we were being rushed out. All the food was fantastic, but I hope this can be improved. Thank...
Read moreTourist trap at its best! At first the server told us the requested menu (Ayce crabs and Wagyu) is not available without 24 hours notice. Then after mentioning that you can still reserve via Tabelog, she told us she confirmed with the manager and now it’s not available today. After agreeing with just the crab and upgrading to a larger crab set, then told the menu pricing has all gone up by a little over 2,000 yen per person…. (menu 14,906 yen, and actual bill 18,698 yen base price) At that point she’s asking if that’s ok, but we were hungry, it was late and didn’t want to deal with finding another reservation so we decided to stay. Once in a while you hear foreign tourists being taken advantage of but not too often do you hear Japanese customers getting taken advantage of as well. Staff was working hard but very questionable as a restaurants and would not trust the high reviews and find somewhere else. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in...
