Okay food and far from friendly service
I went two days in a row because on my Spanish friend’s recommendation list this is the only place open at 8:30. Also it’s on my way to work so pretty convenient. The food and latte were good, but the owner was not friendly to me. Of course according to his comment I have to be noticeably friendly to be treated friendly by him. Fine, very polite way to welcome customer. He would happily chat with other customers but not me. It’s okay, although I indeed tried to start some conversation. I guess as a Chinese, I have to try harder to please him to prove that I’m nice so that I can be treated nicely in this place.
The second day I arrived the place 7 min earlier before 8:30. The door was open, he told me it’s not open yet and get out, so I stood at the edge of door ( not inside) because it was raining outside and I didn’t bring an umbrella. The guy came to me, kicked me out and shut the door in front of me. It is so annoying but I stayed because there is no food around at 8:30. I understand 7 minutes is for sure very important for a coffee place.

Read moreArrived there around 10am on a Sunday. It was 38 degrees outside and I was with my husband and two kids and we were freezing after being outside all morning. When we stepped inside, the man who worked there promptly told us we would have to wait outside for a table (even though the cafe didn’t appear full). We waited outside by the window and a few minutes later the man who worked there came out and told us to move and not stand where we were standing, but rather to stand on the outside of the other side of the cafe. No explanation. It felt so harsh and rude on that cold day,...
Read moreWasn’t looking for anything relatively close to home in Kyoto but was intrigued by the outstanding reviews and it really delivered. I had the French toast and its chewy “Mochiri” texture was unforgettable I wanted badly to bring home the loaf of bread sitting over the kitchen counter. Also ordered a “cafe Nico”, a nice strong latte with a hint of orange peel 💫 star struck. Portion, flavor, texture, even the decor everything was great and if anything their service; friendly and not too overbearing. I wish I had two stomachs to try everything else...
