The most romantic mood lighting for you to whisper to a loved one or draw in your notebook you carry with you. Decorative mallards are in surprising locations all over this cafe with colorful stained glass windows to interest your eye. I am dazzled by the interior design choices, almost reminding me of an I Spy book. Keep looking around instead of being on your phone while you enjoy your order, you'll consistently find something new.
The menu is in Japanese, but use your Google translate app, and you'll be just fine. Coffee, tea, alcohol, and food are available and bakery items are plentiful. The chocolate chip cookie is almost cake-like with many morsels covering the entire spread. Get items while you can as they may sell out.
The owner is clearly loved as in the restroom there are multiple sketches patrons must have done for him of him. He was as kind as could be to us and we appreciated his hospitality. A tourist tip is to pack a washcloth in your bag as many Japanese facilities don't provide paper towels. Which I am all for for the sake of the environment!

Read moreI was asked to leave or get a mask at a store since I didn't have one. I'm ready to respect a restaurant's policy but the way this one male staff told me that was very rude.
When I entered he said I wasn't even supposed to enter the cafe without a mask on even though there was no sign that said anything about that(the people eating and drinking inside were chatting without a mask so that policy lacks coherence anyway).
I asked him if they have a mask for someone who forgot one and he bluntly answered "no." So I asked him what I could do and he said "Just leave. Or get a mask at a store and come back." He forwned upon me so hard as well.
Now considering how almost overly polite Japanese service sector is, it's safe to say he made sure to spite me for not having a mask. That was absolutely unnecessary.
I was meeting up with other friends there who haf already ordered their food so that was very inconvenient for me in this particular scenario as well. I wish they had reacted a little more flexibly since they clearly don't take the mask situation seriously either anyway, as...
Read moreI came here to do some writing that needed doing, intending to make a short stop for a drink and cake before finding somewhere for dinner. Well, I loved it so much here that I stayed for dinner too! Owner-san was so friendly and welcoming (he was chatting to some regulars too) and there is a gorgeous chilled out, retro vibe to the place. Not to mention everything I had was delicious. I got tea and the 日本ケーキ (Japanese cake) which was a delicious, dense banana and caramel sponge served with fresh, softly whipped cream. The teapot was really substantially sized and I was also offered rebrews of the tea leaves - they're really good quality and it never went bitter! Then for dinner I had lasagna rice which was totally yummy and very comforting writing fuel. My new favourite...
