Miyazaki-Sakaba Ebisu - Kyoto Porta — Restaurant in Kyoto

I would not recommend this place for tourists at dinner. This place is for you if you want to drink, not eat. The server saw us waiting at the front and ignored us for 5 minutes before finally sitting us down. Our water glasses were smaller than the people around us, and our food came later than everyone else. Amberjack Sashimi was chewy, fried chicken was soft, and grilled chicken was oily (it's grilled, why so much oil?) The portion sizes were small for the price, AND they charged us for condiments we didn't even ask for? Hospitality? More like scam....

Located in the underground Kyoto station surrounded by several other restaurants and small eateries. We were the first to arrive and line up around 10:20pm. They greeted us, sat us down while all of the cooks and staff yelled greetings to the arriving customers. It was a wonderful and fast paced experience as one would expect from a train station restaurant! I got the Sashimi and Grilled Fish set plate, it was all delicious. The fried fish was a bit boney but I'm used to Western style fish where they debone everything lol, still absolutely delicious. The Sashimi was also delicious, perfect cuts with no inedible silverskin or connective tissue like you get in American Poke and Sushi. They had an English menu with pictures for foreigners and ordering was as simple as pointing at what you wanted. I'm very happy that we stopped here to eat, it seems like some of the hardest decisions we had to make on our trip we're planning on where to eat and it's always disappointing when your choice ends up being bad, so I am thoroughly grateful! 京都駅の地下にあり、周囲には他のレストランや小さな飲食店がいくつかあります。 私たちが一番乗りで到着し、午後10時20分頃に並びました。 彼らは私たちを出迎え、料理人やスタッフ全員が到着する顧客に挨拶を叫んでいる間、私たちを座らせました。 駅のレストランに期待されるような、素晴らしいペースの速い経験でした。 刺身と焼き魚のセットをいただきましたが、どれも美味しかったです。 揚げた魚は少し骨が多かったですが、私はすべての骨を取り除く西洋風の魚に慣れています（笑）、それでも絶対に美味しかったです。 刺身も美味しく、アメリカのポケや寿司で食べられるような食べられない銀皮や結合組織のない完璧なカットでした。 外国人向けに写真付きの英語メニューがあり、注文は欲しいものを指差しするだけで簡単でした。...

Extremely Disappointing Experience We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The staff were rude, dismissive, and made no effort to communicate or understand us, even when we tried our best. They brought us a dish we never ordered, and when we pointed it out, they ignored us completely. After a long day, we didn’t have the energy to argue, especially given the clear attitude of superiority and lack of basic respect. This was by far the worst service we’ve had during our trip.
