PRONTO Shijo Karasuma by JEUGIA — Restaurant in Kyoto

This cafe ignores anyone who looks foreign or different. Be wary. We sat down and after 25 minutes we waved someone down to take our order. We watched about 4 people come in and the waitresses right away gave them water and at least ordered their drinks. If you’re foreign; prepared to be ignored until you have to wave someone down. I will say the hostess who helped us getting a seat was very nice and greeted us with a nice smile. Other than that, it was not a good time watching the people next to you get great service as the waitresses walked passed your presence. Summer : the AC is way too strong and the best spots along the wall are freezing. It is too cold and at the same time, the air is not properly renewed. This is a way for the clients to not stay too long. Bad practice inspired from Americans. Feeling outside 37C. Inside needs a Winter sweater to survive. Ridiculous. They put the sensors in the kitchen where is way more hot so the central system will blast 16C air on the clients. Hate it.

Internet connection is not the best and stable. Electric plugs everywhere. Drinks are under average. Like a Starbuck without the annoying music. Also serve smelly food. Can be annoying if you just come for a tea. Avoid matcha cake. Really heavy. Avoid matcha latte....

A nice place for a break from the busy streets of Kyoto. It’s a large cafe with an American music theme. They have old records displayed throughout the cafe. I ordered a pot of green tea and my partner ordered the lemon smash, both were exactly what we needed after a day of shopping. It was so cozy and quiet that I even noticed one lady sleeping at her table. The chairs are comfy, they have high and low tops, they also have booth seating.
