They're open late! Bring Cash.
I got the standard chashumen and a draft beer. As the menu shows, pretty standard pricing for a bowl of this size, but the ramen was a bit lacking to my taste. Noodles a bit too firm and the broth "not quite my tempo", though it was still quite comforting to me as a nightly meal.
Though I wasn't extremely impressed with the food, I do have to say that the staff were very friendly and kind, especially the lady of the house! Got my order quickly, got lots of "ookini"s, nice music and vibe, not loud at all, what's not to like? Plus, I managed to get around with my horrible Japanese. If all else fails, just "Chashumen to nama beeru onegaishimasu".
All in all I'd say go if you're up for something to fill you up and you're in the area or it's late and your favorite spot is closed. If else, then there might be better...
Read moreThe store front might look small, but it's pretty big inside, with a long counter and two tables for groups. Service was nice and prompt, too.
The ramen itself was a nice soy-based one, light yet strong. I thought it fit well with the noodles, as I kept taking slurps of the soup in between bites of the noodles and toppings. 700 yen for a normal bowl (without char siew) still included half an egg too. Considering both flavor and price, I would say this is a place worth regular visits!
There are other options like fried rice or gyoza, and such sets are still quite...

This is handsdown my favourite Ramen joint in Kyoto. Perhaps even in Japan so far, and I have been to countless Ramen places in Japan over the past couple of years. The ladies working the restaurant are super sweet and always say “okini!” And it’s really cute, because it’s the only place I’ve seen so far that actually does that. It feels very traditional, but also industrial, and highly functional, but very homely and warm. Right now, I have luggage that’s oversized that is sitting outside, but I stopped worrying about it, because I could see that there’s a screen with a camera facing outside so I can watch it from inside, that really put my mind at ease. Completely unexpected. Now the food. Everything is absolutely delicious. The Ramen is obviously amazing, but they gyoza matches it too. Everything is fresh. Even the menma and the pickled daikon are extremely fresh and unique and delicious, which is quite a rarity. There’s also a selection of old manga collecting dust in the corner at the entryway, which I really appreciate. I really can’t say enough how much I like this place, so for God’s sake, please stay open forever, never close, I will be coming back here for the...
