Rokkaku Bar Chabu-Chabu — Restaurant in Kyoto

Found this place while looking for somewhere my friend (no meat) and I (no seafood) could get dinner together. The music was louder than I personally like, but my friend (visiting from abroad) really enjoyed the atmosphere.

I was annoyed that we had to ask three times before getting more water. All of the staff were working really hard though. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the food being prepared, grilled, etc. It must have been really hot back there because the poor workers were sweating a lot!

Popcorn as the otōshi/tsukidashi (the mandatory appetizer you pay for in lieu of a table charge) was an interesting choice! Sadly they were sold-out of several seafood dishes (we went at 19:00-ish on a Friday). My friend LOVED the cucumbers with garlic flakes and house-made chili oil. She seriously wanted to ask if they sold bottles of the chili oil! I recommend the tartar-sauce chicken Namba. I do not recommend the vanilla brûlée. It’s okay but nothing special.

I guess they have a time limit for how long you can stay, because we were asked for our last order...

The male clerk with a bearded was extremely impatient and even rolled his eyes at the customers. We had two groups of friends arriving at different times, and when it was time to check out, this bearded clerk kept insisting that both tables pay together. We kept explaining that we only wanted to settle the bill for the first group, but he stubbornly insisted on checking out the second group first. ★５の人、本当にこの店を利用したの？会社や学校でのイベントなど、幹事を任されている方は気を付けてください！大恥かきますよ。他の方の証拠の写真付きのレビューにある通り、外壁など壊れているし、床もベトベトで不衛生、地下で換気も十分でない印象。コロナ禍では特に利用するのが心配になる店。まず、地下に降りる階段が汚い。大きな扉を開けて中に入るのだが、閉まる時に大きな音が鳴る為、客の出入りの度に不快になる。21～22時くらい、中に入ると女性スタッフに座って待てと言われるが、座ると傾く謎のベンチ、、、丸テーブルに移動するとそのテーブルも壊れているのか固定できてない、危ない！椅子の背もたれも擦れて剥げたまま。カウンター越しで調理するスタッフもダラダラしていて片言。揚げ物用の粉をあんなにじとじと触られると気持ちが悪い。客は他に数名のみ、ホールの女性スタッフはバックヤードで私語。客が注文したくてもホールに人がいないので、その片言のスタッフが揚げ物の途中でオーダーを聞きに行くがあまり理解できていない様子。もはや、空いているのにカオス状態。バックヤードにも調理しているスタッフがいるのか、テイクアウト用らしき料理を持って出てくると、これまた片言のスタッフが包装の対応をさせられる。手が進まず、先程の態度の悪い女性スタッフがマスクなしで登場。作った料理の上で何やら片言スタッフに喋りながら教えている様子。バックヤードで作業する際はマスクしてないのか？あと、バックヤードでふざけているのか、機械が壊れているのか、BGMが流れたり、止まったりするのでイライラする。片言君はあれだけこき使われて、テイクアウト用の受け渡しもやらされていた。留学生でお金がなくて反論できないのか、可哀そうだった。女のスタッフ酷過ぎる。食べ飲み放題2500円、いや2000円でも利用したくないかな。レビューが良いのは、１年以上前にいたスタッフが良かったのだろう。今はその面影もない。設備に関しては昔からレビューで問題が指摘されているところを見るとオーナーの方で改善...
