Teppan — Restaurant in Kyoto

One piece themed okonomiyaki restaurant, more that reasonable prices, cosy atmosphere and very friendly service

Food: first time trying okonomiyaki, so can't really compare, however I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.

Atmosphere: you take off your shoes before getting to your table, and sit at benches along your table. Very cosy and comfortable style in my opinion.

Service: ordering is done through an iPad at the table, and food is brought up when it's ready. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, the owner had dyed blonde hair cut very similar to Sanji, so we started refering to him as Sanji-san and he smiled and laughed with us.

My vegetarian friend was told that anything on the menu he wanted, they would make without eggs for him. He also asked for advice on how to cook the dish he ate, and the owner cooked it live in front of him and even gave it to him for free! (We were the only people in the shop at this time so your experience may vary) Truly a Sanji experience.

After the food, my friend asked for a picture with the owner (attached), and the other member of staff also got out their phone and we both took some pictures. I genuinely believe it was a great memory for all involved.

As we were about to leave, the owner stopped us and gestured to a board one piece trinkets hanging from it, saying it was a gift. Upon further inspection, they are all custom made, with the restaurant's name and various one piece characters. This is a memento I'll hold dear for a long time, more so than anything I bought in the markets, because it reminds of the wonderful experience on the night...

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a late dinner after settling into our air bnb. We went in for the One Piece theme, but stayed for the delicious food, cozy atmosphere and amazing staff 😊✨ we ended up over staying our welcome because the listed hours on Google aren't accurate but they were very polite in ushering us out 😳🤦 highly recommend, just make sure you are ready to pay in cash 😊 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 Okonomiyaki anywhere else✋
