The coffee and apple pie were of excellent quality, and I had been genuinely looking forward to visiting this location during my time in Japan. However, this particular experience left me with mixed and rather disappointing feelings.
I was served by K.F., and although the interaction was formally polite, I was told—almost sharply—to step aside and move away from the counter, even though no one else was nearby. The tone felt unnecessarily harsh and left me feeling quite unwelcome.
What struck me further was the noticeable contrast in how other customers—particularly Asian guests who ordered after me—were greeted with smiles and served immediately, while I waited for over five minutes. The difference in treatment was difficult to ignore.
When I asked about the “One More Coffee” initiative, I was told it only applies after a purchase. Yet even after buying two café lattes and an apple pie, I was informed it still didn’t apply. The explanation felt inconsistent and unclear.
As someone who came all the way from Germany to visit Japan, I do my very best to be respectful, open-hearted, and mindful of local customs. I go out of my way to approach every interaction with sincerity and courtesy. That’s why this particular experience was especially disheartening—because it stood in such contrast to the kindness and hospitality I’ve encountered elsewhere in Japan.
I truly hope this was an isolated incident and not reflective of the values this store aims...
