We really wanted to try a tofu restaurant in Kyoto and became aware of this restaurant because of the good reviews. After visiting the nearby temple, we went to the restaurant shortly before noon and were taken directly to a small, cozy room by the owner. She told us right at the beginning that she doesn't speak English, but that wasn't a problem thanks to a translation app.
We opted for the lunch menu for around 3200 ¥. The food tasted excellent and consisted of five different components. We were particularly impressed by the sesame tofu and the yam with quail egg. Green tea was served with the meal, which rounded off the whole meal perfectly.
It was definitely a special taste experience and we would come back anytime. The owner was very friendly and we felt very comfortable. We also found eating on the floor to be very pleasant and typical of Japan.
