I have had many kinds of unajyu/hitsumabushi outside of Nagoya, and I did not expect that it can get much better than what I've had - I was proven wrong by my experience at Togawa. The unajyu at Togawa was absolutely delicious. The unagi was crispy on the outside, and very juicy and fresh on the inside. The sauce was an amazing balance of sweet, savoury, and intense umami. It was amazing. I was also very excited to try the famous Nagoya Cochin eggs, and indeed they had a very distinct and strong egg flavour that I loved. I was given the (Cochin) egg creme pudding for free as dessert. This was perhaps the best pudding I've ever had in my life - so ridiculously rich and indulgent in the best possible way. Arguably the best meal I've had in Nagoya!

Mutoh was our server for tonight and although we do not speak Japanese, he tried his best to speak English to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. His service was great and he is very friendly! Ordered the Special Hitsumabushi (2 sets) - the eel was grilled to perfection and crispy, broth was palatable. Although there was an additional 10% surcharge due to the festive period, Mutoh gave us complimentary desserts! Thank you for the pleasant evening and the wonderful experience. Total paid: Yen 12,390

登河創立於1945年,使用日本近海的鰻魚 (看完木曜4超玩台灣鰻魚出口到日本特輯之後 我很留意我會不會在日本吃到台灣鰻魚) 這間店除了鰻魚之外還有雞肉 店內採用的雞肉是愛知縣的 奧三河 地雞 不敢吃鰻魚的人可以點雞肉來試試看 訂位的時候要順便點餐 我們點了一個特別版有玉子燒的套餐 跟一個小碗的鰻魚三吃套餐♥️♥️♥️ 因為我真的很想吃,但是我很怕我吃不完 又怕吃太飽會很撐 等一下不能去名古屋城 客家魂作祟⋯⋯ 鰻魚本人表面焦焦、香香、酥酥 但裡面十分柔軟 使用備長炭 門口飄著炭香 等待的時候可以看一下鰻魚被烤的樣子 烤爐的旁邊是一桶很大很大的醬汁 烤好的鰻魚會在醬汁裡面泡澡 然後再拿來櫥窗前面烤 玻璃很燙,一定要小心! 上桌奉上冰麥茶、冰毛巾鎭定我們發燙的靈魂 我們覺得非常可以👍 日本人認為吃鰻魚可以帶來滿滿的活力 根據研究顯示營養很多蛋白質量也很高 日本在江戶時代便有在「土用丑日(土用の丑の日)」吃鰻魚的習俗 這天大約是農曆的「大暑」 指全年氣溫最高的一天 中醫師表示:鰻魚「味甘性平」, 歸經於肺、脾、腎,有助於消暑、開胃、補氣,確實符合季節飲食原則 營養師分析 鰻魚富含維生素B群 可改善疲勞、提振精神 山椒粉味道 很特別、無法形容,但就是好吃 一味粉就是辣舌尖 就辣的辣 很酥爽 玉子燒、醬油蘿蔔泥 是甜口的玉子燒 加上一點點鹹味的醬油蘿蔔泥 口感很和諧 不慍不火 是稱職的配角 醃漬蔬菜 淺漬的蘿蔔和小黃瓜🥒 是一個適合夏天的小菜 不會S鹹 加了魚板、生麩的湯 非常的清爽 鮮甜又解膩、是續碗等級的好喝 來吃鰻魚飯就是要試試看鰻魚三吃(四吃) 第一個吃法就是吃原味 可以嚐到又香又酥脆的外皮和米飯 米飯用岐阜農家契作的米 我覺得乾濕度剛好 醬汁的部分我覺得也還可以 第二吃的部分配旁邊的蔥、山葵跟海苔 第三吃的部分就是除了加上蔥、山葵跟海苔和蛋 第四吃的部分就是除了加上蔥、山葵跟海苔和蛋之外,還要加上他們的高湯 和和美美的吃一個湯泡飯 噢對了吃完了他還會給你一個布丁 姐姐形容這個布丁叫做濃纖合度 什麼意思就是濃得很剛好不會黏嘴巴 不是脆脆的布丁 是絲滑的 焦糖也是恰到好處 不會太甜,也不會太苦 到底誰說鰻魚店可以做這樣的布丁? 而且居然還有販售⋯⋯ 很貼心地跟我說提供保冰袋讓我帶回家 必須要捏大腿讓自己冷靜下來 這一間有前門跟後門 就是很傳統的老房子日式造景 一進門就會聞到濃濃炭火香味 看師父表演烤鰻魚 鰻魚還在滴油令人食欲大開 這間店還有停車場就在店門口 噢對了廁所 廁所是香噴噴的 衛生紙捲還是玫瑰花圖案 他們是用Aesop有磨沙顆粒的洗手乳 真的是很受不了的貼心

登河創立於1945年,使用日本近海的鰻魚 (看完木曜4超玩台灣鰻魚出口到日本特輯之後 我很留意我會不會在日本吃到台灣鰻魚) 這間店除了鰻魚之外還有雞肉 店內採用的雞肉是愛知縣的 奧三河 地雞 不敢吃鰻魚的人可以點雞肉來試試看 訂位的時候要順便點餐 我們點了一個特別版有玉子燒的套餐 跟一個小碗的鰻魚三吃套餐♥️♥️♥️ 因為我真的很想吃,但是我很怕我吃不完 又怕吃太飽會很撐 等一下不能去名古屋城 客家魂作祟⋯⋯ 鰻魚本人表面焦焦、香香、酥酥 但裡面十分柔軟 使用備長炭 門口飄著炭香 等待的時候可以看一下鰻魚被烤的樣子 烤爐的旁邊是一桶很大很大的醬汁 烤好的鰻魚會在醬汁裡面泡澡 然後再拿來櫥窗前面烤 玻璃很燙,一定要小心! 上桌奉上冰麥茶、冰毛巾鎭定我們發燙的靈魂 我們覺得非常可以👍 日本人認為吃鰻魚可以帶來滿滿的活力 根據研究顯示營養很多蛋白質量也很高 日本在江戶時代便有在「土用丑日(土用の丑の日)」吃鰻魚的習俗 這天大約是農曆的「大暑」 指全年氣溫最高的一天 中醫師表示:鰻魚「味甘性平」, 歸經於肺、脾、腎,有助於消暑、開胃、補氣,確實符合季節飲食原則 營養師分析 鰻魚富含維生素B群 可改善疲勞、提振精神 山椒粉味道 很特別、無法形容,但就是好吃 一味粉就是辣舌尖 就辣的辣 很酥爽 玉子燒、醬油蘿蔔泥 是甜口的玉子燒 加上一點點鹹味的醬油蘿蔔泥 口感很和諧 不慍不火 是稱職的配角 醃漬蔬菜 淺漬的蘿蔔和小黃瓜🥒 是一個適合夏天的小菜 不會S鹹 加了魚板、生麩的湯 非常的清爽 鮮甜又解膩、是續碗等級的好喝 來吃鰻魚飯就是要試試看鰻魚三吃(四吃) 第一個吃法就是吃原味 可以嚐到又香又酥脆的外皮和米飯 米飯用岐阜農家契作的米 我覺得乾濕度剛好 醬汁的部分我覺得也還可以 第二吃的部分配旁邊的蔥、山葵跟海苔 第三吃的部分就是除了加上蔥、山葵跟海苔和蛋 第四吃的部分就是除了加上蔥、山葵跟海苔和蛋之外,還要加上他們的高湯 和和美美的吃一個湯泡飯 噢對了吃完了他還會給你一個布丁 姐姐形容這個布丁叫做濃纖合度 什麼意思就是濃得很剛好不會黏嘴巴 不是脆脆的布丁 是絲滑的 焦糖也是恰到好處 不會太甜,也不會太苦 到底誰說鰻魚店可以做這樣的布丁? 而且居然還有販售⋯⋯ 很貼心地跟我說提供保冰袋讓我帶回家 必須要捏大腿讓自己冷靜下來 這一間有前門跟後門 就是很傳統的老房子日式造景 一進門就會聞到濃濃炭火香味 看師父表演烤鰻魚 鰻魚還在滴油令人食欲大開 這間店還有停車場就在店門口 噢對了廁所 廁所是香噴噴的 衛生紙捲還是玫瑰花圖案 他們是用Aesop有磨沙顆粒的洗手乳 真的是很受不了的貼心

I have had many kinds of unajyu/hitsumabushi outside of Nagoya, and I did not expect that it can get much better than what I've had - I was proven wrong by my experience at Togawa.

The unajyu at Togawa was absolutely delicious. The unagi was crispy on the outside, and very juicy and fresh on the inside. The sauce was an amazing balance of sweet, savoury, and intense umami. It was amazing.

I was also very excited to try the famous Nagoya Cochin eggs, and indeed they had a very distinct and strong egg flavour that I loved. I was given the (Cochin) egg creme pudding for free as dessert. This was perhaps the best pudding I've ever had in my life - so ridiculously rich and indulgent in the best possible way.

Mutoh was our server for tonight and although we do not speak Japanese, he tried his best to speak English to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. His service was great and he is very friendly!

Ordered the Special Hitsumabushi (2 sets) - the eel was grilled to perfection and crispy, broth was palatable.

Although there was an additional 10% surcharge due to the festive period, Mutoh gave us complimentary desserts!

It’s such a nice and warm restaurant! There is a waitress who speaks fluent English served us all the way through. Explained how long the cooking time before ordering. The eel was perfectly done and delicious. The portion was great. We ordered serve for 4 which was good for 4. English instruction was clear enough to serve ourselves for different ways of the course.
