As a native Texan (who's hometown local BBQ joint ranks in the top 5 in the US), BBQ has always been special to me, to my hometown and to my state - we take pride in our BBQ. Since moving to Japan, I have had "Texas" BBQ dozens of times and, until eating at Chop Hits, nowhere has gotten it right: chewy ribs, gristly brisket, inauthentic sauces...
Here the meat is tender, the beans are a lil' smoky, the potato salad is just right and the beers are cold. What more could one ask for...?
Is Chop Hits the best BBQ I've ever had? No, but this is a very tall order -- it is 100% the best BBQ I've had in Japan. Are there a few things I'd change or add? Maybe... but many aspects of BBQ that are stylistic//up to individual taste and preference. What I will say is that Chop Hits deserves to be called Texas style BBQ, and because of this they deserve the 5 star rating I am giving them now.
I will definitely go out of my way to eat...
Read moreThis isn't just good American BBQ for Japan. It's great American BBQ period. This place would have a line in the United States. The ribs, brisket, and pulled pork tasted like home. The bbq chicken is the thing that really surprised me. I had lower expectations for it, but it was perfectly spiced with a deep charcoal taste.

If you have an American appetite, you might want to order for more then their sets recommend. For example, my family of three ordered the set recommended for 4 people, adding on french fries, fried chicken, and bread. We left with our bellies full, but it wasn't too much.
Overall, it was a great experience. Despite living an hour+ away,...

I came here by myself and ordered the Bbq sampler plate. I really didn’t have a big appetite today but I thought the servings was a bit small. So I ended up ordering some more of the pulled pork which imho was as good as I could get from home (North Carolina) minus the deep smoky taste. No worries…the next time I come here I will order a bigger tray.
Their coleslaw…it was off the chain good. Had to wait a bit for the pinto beans but they was well worth the wait. Damn those was good…really good 😌
Really chill atmosphere and I definitely plan on coming back. Next time I will have a appetite and won’t drive because I really wanted a beer with the meal.
Highly...
