Samuhara Shrine — Attraction in Osaka

The deities enshrined at the festival are Ameno-mi-naka-nushi-no-kami(The deity Ameno-mi-naka-nushi-no-kami is considered to be the "great god who governs the center of the universe and created the cosmos."), Takami-musubi-no-kami, and Kami-musubi-no-kami, known collectively as "Samuhara." There is a theory that during the Bunroku-Keicho War, Kato Kiyomasa carved Samuhara onto the blades of his weapons and believed in them, which led to him miraculously surviving countless perils. It has been passed down that chanting "Samuhara, Samuhara" or wearing items with the inscription "Samuhara" brings positive energy and provides insights to escape difficulties and disasters. During the Russo-Japanese War, many soldiers believed in its power to ward off bullets and visited the shrine. In present times, in pursuit of its blessings, the building of the Osaka Prefectural Police's Mobile Patrol Unit was erected next...

“Samuhara” is a mystic phrase as Google Map implies in the shrine’s name. Some argue Samuhara was deprived from samvara in Sanscrit. Others say the phrase was from sal-ala in Korean. Kato Kiyomasa (1562-1611) claimed he returned from Korea to Japan safe thanks to the phrase carved on his sword. In 1782, a farmer shot a pheasant with an arrow, but it didn't hit it. Furthermore, it didn't even try to escape. Other better archers competed in vain. When they barely caught the pheasant, they found the phrase Samuhara on its back. In 1799, a crane was caught in Fukuoka, and the phrase "Samuhara" was found on the wings of the crane. As a crane was believed to be a sign of longevity, people carried the phrase written on a strup of paper. Modern cases can be found on the signboards...

追記：指輪のために行列のできる神社で有名ですが、少し前に女性参拝客の御祈祷中に胸など触るいやらしい事して逮捕された神職のニュースが。強気で少し横柄な社務所の方のレビューも多く、神職に胡坐をかいた方もいたのかと。神職にあるからと全員が素晴らしい人ではないという証でした。

大阪のビジネス街、ビル街の真ん中にポツンとある不思議な神社。観光や出張で大阪市内に来られた方も参拝しやすい場所にあります。市営地下鉄四つ橋線の四ツ橋駅から徒歩10分弱。 サムハラということ言葉には悪いものから身を守るなどの意味があるそうです。サムハラ神社のすぐ横の建物は大阪府警の機動隊でとても安全な場所。 こじんまりした神社ですが朝からひっきりなしに参詣客が。遠方からも来られる人も多いそうです。知り合いの話では有名な芸能人に会うのが夢だった人がたまたま近くでランチ後にお参りに行ったら、偶然にもその芸能人の方が前で参拝していらしたそうで、これもご縁かパワーか。

神社の入り口には大きな石に漢字で「サムラハ神社」の文字が刻まれていて神聖な雰囲気です。神社の周りには「サムハラ」のご利益で難を逃れた人々のパネルがたくさん掲示されています。 有名な御守は予約もできず、通販もしていないそうで数か月待ち状態とのこと。たまたま在庫がありサイズも合えばまさにご縁だと思います。 たまたま行った際はまだ納品されておらず、半ばごろとの掲示がありました。有名なゆえに転売目的の人もいるようで、転売禁止の貼り紙も社務所に貼りだされていました。 社務所の方の対応はそっけないと感じる方もいるかもしれません。基本神社はサービスや接客業ではないので転売目的の方や日々同じ質問に返答していたらいつもにこやかでいられないのかもしれません。
