Had the most wonderful experience taking a break to rest our feet walking about in Den Den Town. I needed a drink and stumbled across this sake bar located inside The Community Food Hall. What a fantastic find!
Being a tourist I couldn't really speak much Japanese but the one of the bar owners approached and introduced me to a vast range of sakes they had to offer. She explained to me in excellent English the types of sakes they had how the size of the grain affects the flavour, what the numbers & percentages mean. So knowledgeable and informative. She left such a great impression on me. A terrific example of what being a good host means. ☺️
They have many, many different types of sakes from all over Japan all behind a pay card system. You load up however much you want and insert the card into the machine and select the size of your drink.
The prices range from ¥180 upward. Three sizes of drinks from simple ones to premium sakes. They have two machines dedicated to new sakes. Do yourself a favour, take a pause and go visit whilst walking about in Den Den...
Read moreThis review is specifically on the Sandwich shop selling "meat box" in this Food Hall. The service is very slow. A group of us went to this food Hall. The person who ordered a sandwich from there waited so long because the cook didn't know how to use his payment machine, and it took very long afterwards until the Sandwich was ready. I tried ordering something a different day and the same guy had trouble using the payment machine again. I left and came back with cash - I patiently waited for him to finish making someone's order (which took a very long time). When he was done with their order he refused to take my order telling me they were closing ( they close at 10pm and it was only 9:35 - and I was waiting patiently for around 10 min). I understand if they take last calls at a certain time, but he could have told me earlier instead of making me wait for nothing. Very slow bad customer service...
Read moreLet me preface this review with an understanding that I tried to go on a Monday night, which I know is a slow night, and the fact that they were open at all is a sort of blessing I suppose as many restaurants are closed on Mondays.
Anyway -I went to Awajshima Burger at 6 pm and when I tried to order I was told they were closed until 6:30. Dude was cooking patties on the grill but couldn't make more I guess? Seemed odd to be closed during the dinner rush.
After I was turned away I walked around and then came back an hour and a half later at 7:30, tried to order again but was told they were out of buns, so I was unable to order. Overall it was a very strange experience. The food hall is huge but also completely devoid of customers. Maybe something is wrong here.
I ended up eating an apple and a banana from the grocery...
