Top-grade "first party" game center. NAMCO is known for its broad assortment of games and entertainment. An IMMENSE variety of games are available here, as well as a karaoke room.
Store guide: 1F is reception for Ichiban-Kuji (one-price, win-something raffles where you can get anything from a postcard to a top-grade figure), electronic collectible card games (not WCCF), and time-limited pop up stores like Tales series as well as other "boys anime" merch. 2F UFOCatchers with top-brand prizes from popular IP like Vocaloid, Kancolle, and Kumamon. 3F Video games including Chunithm (3x), Kancolle, LoveLive (6+2 configuration), Tekken, and many more. Above that are karaoke, etc. Gacha is in the back of the place.
UFOCatcher guide: LEGIT and CHALLENGING. Expect to spend at least 20 coins on D-ring prizes. Staff is unlikely to help you (except exchanges, resets, or stuck prizes) or grant acts of mercy (as with SEGA). In this store, if alternative prize variants are available (such as black or white dog in same cabinet), you MUST request the correct prize variant to be placed first before playing. Store policy does not accept any sort of exchanges.
Restroom guide: AVAILABLE. 2F ladies and accessible. 3F gents (1x stall, 2x urinals). Others I'm not sure.
Smoking: SOME AREAS, SOME SECONDHAND SMOKE. Smoking is permitted on some floors. While it is cleaner than nearby places (especially those dedicated to gambling-style games like horses, soccer, and pachinko-slots), secondhand smoking is still possible.
Staff and service: It is not as touristy as the nearby SEGA or the SEGA store in Shinsaibashi, but it is still quite welcoming to foreigners. Staff is welcoming and any staff call button press will be attended to in 1-2 minutes. Limited in-store prizes and promos go out FAST, like any other places in Osaka, with some rarer items (like rhythm games gloves) going out same day as they become available. Staff will understand that you are a foreigner, but they prefer to let the pictures and gestures do the talking. Just wave at them or use a button and wait, then point at what you want resolved.
Opening time is 9:00. If you go there between 8:50~8:59 you might be...
Read moreMy family visited the Namco arcades twice during our trip to Osaka! The first time we stumbled upon it during our exploration of Nipponbashi, and the second time, we went there intentionally to spend the day playing gachapon, crane games, drumming, racing, battle, and rhythm games! We saw so many games that were incredible and none we had ever seen in the US. Some that require you bring your own personal cards for activating powers and armies (I don't know, lol) but it was glorious to watch the local players get down with it. They also had free loaner cards there if you wanted to give it a go. Afterwards, we went to the 4th floor for food, drinks, and karaoke in our own private karaoke room! SO much fun for adults and kids alike. We had a great haul full of plushies and figurines by the...
Read moreStrolling down Nipponbashi window shopping n what did I see - Namco - a Renowned Games Arcade chain that is known Japan wide. This was a fairly large outlet and had a huge colourful signage- u can’t miss it! Plenty of games and also lots of claw machines. Seemed pretty average crowd but I noticed later that it got progressively more crowded at 530pm onwards. It’s good for a distraction for an hour or so! Clean inside but I did smell tobacco smoke however it was not too bad as the place was neat, machines clean and orderly and premises were...
