MOTO COFFEE — Restaurant in Osaka

Yes, cute place, nice view, however, this is not an excuse for failing to consider customer experience. It feels like operational decisions were made purely focusing on the owner/manager’s experience. I imagine the thought process might have been something like this:

We won’t open before 11am - we want to sleep in.

We want to try and make customers go away by compelling them to navigate a convoluted booking system based on where they want to sit—even though the terrace is visibly empty—and all this before they’re allowed any coffee.

We will take each customer order as slowly as possible because there are only 4 of us behind the counter as this way we can hopefully encourage more customers to leave in case they had the patience to come this far.

We will conveniently run out of things on the menu after the customer tries to order them - also applicable to the customer’s alternative choice just for good measure.

We will only accept cash — tax is so high in Japan.

We will serve only dark roast espresso and offer sugar if it’s too bitter. Hey, if it works for Starbucks…

We will gaslight customers into thinking they’re important to us by using polite Japanese and...

I recently visited Moto Coffee, and I must say, it’s a gem for coffee enthusiasts seeking a picturesque view. Situated by the river with a stunning bridge in sight, it offers a delightful atmosphere for relaxation.

The Good:

Coffee Quality: The coffee here is exceptional. The aroma and taste are top-notch, making it a go-to place for coffee lovers. Scenic Location: The cafe’s prime location by the river and the bridge is unbeatable. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and soak in the beautiful surroundings. Quick Takeaway: If you’re in a hurry, their takeaway service is impressively efficient. You can enjoy their great coffee even if you can’t find a seat right away.

The Not-So-Good:

Long Queues: On busy days, you might find a long queue for seating. Be prepared to wait for a bit if you want to secure a table with a view.

It has a relatively small area at the counter, so do remember to wait outside after you've taken your ticket via the iPad after the entry.

Multiple floors to accommodate plenty of people, basement without view, to top floors with view through the windows of the river or simply just sit at the Terrence area without.

Went there during the winter period of January, choose the terrance to enjoy the winter breeze. Blankets are provided along with a small heater on the floor and a small basket for you to put your belongings.

The egg sandwich was nicely roasted that you'll have a good crunch as you bite into it. Egg mayo along with little chopped pickles give it that extra little taste 👌🏻 10/10 would order again.

My latte was served in a "bowl" that felt like it was poured from another cup, but it was alright. Felt like I was back in time where we drank from bowls. 💯 But it still tasted alright 👌🏻
