My favorite matcha spot. It’s hidden in shotengai a few minutes from Minamimorimachi Station.
OWNER SPEAKS ENGLISH :) so it was really nice to not feel like I had to try to use my basic Japanese skills.
The cafe reminds me of a Kyoto tea house but much more relaxing to enjoy my matcha latte. Sometimes I found it a bit intimidating to go into a Kyoto tea house because I was unsure of the customs.
The owner is such an amazing person and the experience she creates here keeps me coming back. When you place your order you are then asked to choose a handmade cup from which you would like to enjoy your beverage or matcha/azuki dessert from.
You can immediately see that she loves what she does because she is happy to talk and explain things like — how to froth your tea, which would be best for your own personal taste preference, or the history and culture of taking the time to enjoy this wonderful drink. She also includes freeze dried azuki beans as well. I could eat these all day long!! But they are also nice to add into your tea.

Read moreWhile walking around the Tenjimbashi Suji area we happened to come across cafe chakai. Amazing host In Karou welcomes us with a very very cheerful and warm smile and starts talking to us like we had known her for a while .Such amazing hosts are hard to find.
We ordered a maccha latte and a few packs of Green tea which was a suggestion from Karou which definitely was something that we were looking to buy anyways. She gifted us a powder stick along with these and definitely we enjoyed every bit of our discussions with her and eventually enjoyed our latte.
The store does something unique in having their customers post a dot on the country/city from where they are visiting the store and it was fun posting our presence on the globe..

Read moreBest place for tea/coffee! After you enter you will be seated and after choosing the drink you want, the host will take you to pick the type of cup you want (photo below). I went for a green tea (photos below) that you prepare by yourself. Around 3 small spoons of matcha and 1/3 of water that you mix using one of the tools they provide. Photos and video below. I also attached the full menu from 28 January 2020. Prices are very good - from what you see in the photos I paid 605¥. They have English menu and the host speaks it very well, so it’s easy to order and get around. If you are in the Minamimorimachi area you definitely need to stop by! It’s an amazing experience. I highly recommend...
