An experience never to be forgotten

I had never heard of a “maid cafe” before and was recommended by a friend to try it once in my life. After looking up what it is in Japan I decided to give it a go in Osaka. I booked the meal, drink and stage performance for 1 hour and after arriving right on time we ended up staying for 90 minutes But not by choice…

Entering the establishment you’re greeted by “the maids” and they look even younger than the pictures online. , If I had to guess I would honestly say maybe 16 years old at the most.

Not a word of English was spoken but using google translate solved that problem.

It’s set out like a cheap Nintendo dreamland cafe with cheap seats, tables and tacky decor. They have a small stage and a seating for maybe 20 patrons if you packed the place out.

Amongst the guests were a few older men on their own, a few couples and a few groups of young men eager to yell “meow meow” and be called “master”.

There is a feeling of cringe as you walk in and it never goes away, it’s so awkward as you feel like you’re doing something wrong in this “fantasy”… that it’s not a strip club but feels like it wants to be and you just want out but you can’t communicate properly to leave.

We sat down and ordered drinks from the menu that had “cute” names like angel dust or devils gold (alcohol), then we ordered food from the menu that was not only set out like a kids meal menu but was a kids meal, we ordered the ‘burger’ which is a cartoon bear and a few vegetables and rice with a large gravy boat of gravy, more gravy than meal. It tastes just how you would expect it to, cheap left overs mashed together to form a patty of god knows what. I nibbles and didn’t eat much at all.

We were then greeted with a menu of maids asking us which one we want to do the singing performance and which two we want photos with. (Note this is an extra charge for the photos of approx 880 yen per photo that I thought was part of the package deal I booked in Klook). They come around with a mystery box and asked us to put our hand in it to draw out a card. It was a number of what type of photo we get, like a selfie or a group.

The seedy older men and then pervert young boys inside was an eye opener, they liked it a lot, maybe too much

You could tell the maids worked the “clients” who were men more then couples or girls trying to upsell and make them stay longer as you pay by the hour for the table and then they try to upsell you on ordering more.

We shared a bottle of blue sparkling Champaign with a lady and that was nice

The stage performance started and it was energy packed with awkward dance moves repeating the same routine over and over like a kids dance as such. We were lucky to see 3 performances if you call that lucky.

The girls then approached again to try to make conversation in very broken English and Google translator, every time you answer a question you have to say a chant and then clap or way “meow meow” as if it wasn’t awkward enough.

We noticed an older couple come in and then leave immediately when the American older gentleman was terribly uncomfortable and his wife agreed to go.

An Australian couple said down and orders a drink and try en promptly left as well.

It’s not for everyone to say the least.

In the end we went on stage to take photos both digitally and with Polaroid instant photo, then trying to leave it was more awkward as they wanted to sign our photos before letting us out

I would say skip this, unless you’re a dirty perv or have this particular fantasy! It wasn’t...

Maidreamin is a good place to experience the maid cafe experience, as well as experience Japanese culture. If you’re learning Japanese, it’s also a good place to practice.

They’re 2 Maidreamin locations in Osaka. This is the なんば “Namba” location. Dotonbori is about a 10 minute walk away, but in Namba there are many places to eat and shop. Close by is Namba City, which is an underground shopping mall.

This is the largest Maidreamin in Osaka, so I recommend coming here if you have an especially large party of people.

Fun Tip: The item blocks change color if you hit them, please give it a try!

It’s a great experience, whether your alone or even if your with your family and friends. Everyone is friendly and they’ll do their best to see that you’re having a fun time.

I highly recommend ordering a course meal if it’s your first time going. The course includes omurice(you can also choose curry), an animal headband, and a picture with a maid or your choice. You can also choose a course that includes an animal dessert parfait, and a drink.

Prices usually range from ¥3,200-¥4000 for a course, and you can stay for an hour. Each additional hour can be added for an additional ¥880. The maids do their best to accommodate, and language barrier isn’t really a problem even if you don’t speak Japanese.

You can also request live show performances from a maid of your choosing, where they will dance (and in some cases sing), a song of your choosing (please ask a maid for a live show list). The songs are mostly related to anime and/or Japanese idol culture, but some maids will also know some JPOP/KPOP songs too.

Live show requests typically cost ¥3500 for 1 song, 3 pictures with a maid of your choosing, and 2 pen light sticks. There is also a live song request for ¥3700 that includes a drink, 1 photo and a snack. It’s worth it if you’re not hungry and you want to just get a feel the maid cafe experience. If you’re visiting with friends and not extremely hungry, consider splitting a course meal along with a live show request to maximize the fun.

It’s definitely worth experiencing if you’re coming to Japan. It’s a fairly quick (around an hour), and good for flexible planning in a trip (or just a good time to rest for...

몇번의 오사카여행, 돈이 아까워 안갔으나 이번에 한번 갔다가 푹 빠져버린 장소!

난바점 기준 오픈시간은 보통 평일 12시-23시이고 토,일,공휴일은 10시30분부터 23시까지이다.

진짜 재밌게 즐길려면 다음과 같은 전제가 필요함! 혼모노끼 살짝이상인 사람 귀염뽀작 좋아함 or 견디는 사람 파티나 클럽에서 잘즐기는 인싸기질이 있는 사람(사실 없어도 자신을 놓고 즐긴다면..!) 수치심을 견디는 사람 선을 지킬줄 아는 사람 같이갈 사람 한명이상이 있는 사람( 일본단골손님들은 혼자와서도 잘 즐기는데 약간 부끄러우니까 친구랑 같이가면 부끄러울때 친구라도 볼 수 있음..) 내 자신의 즐거움에 돈을 아끼지 않는 사람

다음의 사람은 이곳에 오면 실망함! 잠깐 커피마시러오는 사람 이성을 꼬시러오는 사람 친구랑 대화만 하러오는 사람 싼값에 즐기고 싶은 사람 오타쿠문화의 오자도 모를 경우 or 싫어하는 사람 귀염뽀작 못견디는 사람 가족여행인 사람(케바케인데 실망할듯, 부모님께 보여드리기도 자기 자식에게 보여주기도 뭣한 장소임)

들어가자마자 어떻게 해야하는지?

먼저 메이드가 올때 까지 당황을 좀 하고 있으면 된다.(귀염뽀작한 인테리어 + 귀염뽀작으로 치장한 메이드 + 메이드 카페에 들어온 자신의 모습의 3콤보로 당황할수밖에없음) 그럼 메이드가 반겨주면서 처음이냐고 물어봄 처음이라고 메이드에게 의미를 전달함 처음인 사람에게는 먼저 주의사항을 말해줌 이것은 중요함, 지키는 것이 메이드와 자신 그리고 그 주변 손님들에게 까지 피해가 가지 않음 그 내용은 흡연금지, 메이드를 만지는 행위 금지, 메이드나 다른 손님의 얼굴이 나오게끔 사진, 영상 촬영 금지(조건을 충족시킨다면 음식사진이나 셀카는 가능) 자리에 앉으면 메이드가 메뉴판을 가져다줌 기본적으로 메이드는 주문을 받을때 손님과 같은 눈높이 아니면 낮은 눈높이까지 몸을 낮춰서 주문을 받음 (이떄 대화가 힘들다면 구글통역기를 이용해서 질문하고 답변 또한 통역기로 받아도 된다. 다 기다려준다 이분들이 외국인을 한두번 상대해 보겠는가..) 이 메뉴에서 무엇을 골라야 할지는 후술하고 이제부터는 자신을 내려놓고 메이드들과 맘껏 놀고 마음에 드는 메이드를 한명 생각해둔다(나중에 사진을 찍을거라면 어짜피 1명 골라야함) 충분히 즐겼으면 갈때 계산하고 메이드리밍 어플리케이션에 스탬프 qr코드를 찍고싶다고 하면 이해하고 아마 qr코드를 가져다 줄것임. 찍으면 어플리케이션 스탬프창에 1개가 찍히고 '모에모에로또'를 1회 할 수 있는데 여기서 '당첨'이 나오면 가입한 메일로 뭐가 당첨되었는지 날라옴 확인해서 메이드에게 보여주면 써있는걸 해줌! 그리고 인사하면서 돌아가면 됨! (이 는 어플이 있는 사람에 한해서이고 없다면 계산후 가면됨 어플에 대해서는 후술함!)

여기부터는 세세한 설명임!

먼저 가격에 관해서!(여기 써있는 모든 가격은 세전가이므로 8%세금을 더해주세요!) 입국료는 1시간 500엔 + 1시간 1주문을 바탕으로 이루어짐! (여기서 시간당 자릿세, 시간당 1주문이 적용되는것은 사람이 많아서 줄을 서있을때임! 처음에 주문을 함과 동시에 인당 500엔이 추가로 결제되고 이것이 자릿세인데 사람이 한적하거나 줄을 서서 기다리는 정도까지가 아니라면 이곳 난바점에서는 free time시간이라고 해서 그냥 음료수하나 시켜놓고 죽치고 있어도 된다. 그러나 기본적으로 1시간 1주문이다. 뭐 어짜피 1시간이면 주문시킨거 다 먹을만하다.. 양이 많지가 않음.. 근데 라이브 구경이 주목적이라면 음식은 거의 안먹고 박수치느라 바쁨..)

셋트메뉴 고르는 팁 제가 처음갔을때 주문받아준 메이드가 저한테 배고프냐고 물어보고 그렇다고 하니까 정식코스(밥+음료1개씩)를 추천해 줬었음. 이건 2600엔 그외에 드링크코스(퍼포먼스 칵테일[강추]), 디저트코스(귀염뽀작 파르페+음료한잔), 풀코스(밥+파르페+음료한잔)가 있는데 각각 1900, 2400,3400엔

위의 4코스는 사진과 기념품 1개씩이 들어가있음 이 가격이 포함된것임 그래도 결국 묶어파는게 싸긴싸서 묶어사는게 좋음!

사실상 이 위 4개중에 메이드랑 젤 많이 노는건 드링크 코스임. 그리고 위 금액에 1200엔을 더하면 라이브를 볼 수 있는데 이건 무대에서 춤춰주는데 여러분쪽을 보면서 춰줌 즉, 돈낸사람 쪽을 보면서 춰줌 이제 메이드들이 모든 곡을 다 출수있는건 아니라 저는 메이드 한명을 지목하니 그분이 귀여움, 신남, 섹시중에서 고르라고 했었음. 근데 저기다가 1200엔을 더하면 가격이 팍뜀..

그리고 라이브는 시키면 바로 해주는게 아니라 조금 쌓았다가 2시간마다 한번에 쭉 진행하는게 기본인듯 따라서 타이밍이 잘맞으면 바로 보는거고 안맞으면 2시간 기다려야됨..

상황이 그러하니.. 기념품이라도 하나 챙기는게 좋겠다 하면 살짝 비싼 위의 4코스중 시키면되고 기념품값이라도 아껴야겠다면 '밖에서 밥을 먹고' 메이드카페를 들어가서 메뉴판 뒷쪽의 LIVE PERFORMANCE 콤보에서 고르면 됨. 이거는 LOVELOVE 콤보(간단한 식사[감자튀김 등]+퍼포먼스 칵테일+사진한장+라이브공연 1곡) 이게 3150엔이고 그 외에 킹콤보,퀸콤보(사보진 않았으나 샴페인 1병+거주시간 15분추가+사진1장+라이브공연 1곡)가 4200엔이다. 자 일단 킹이나 퀸콤보를 질러버리면 그날은 거의 뭐 거기서 퍼질러 놀수있다고 보면된다. 근데 굳이 지를필요가 없는 이유는 15분 추가라는 옵션이 가격에 포함되는데 이거 무제한 이용가능한 시간이 많아서 사실상 가격상 손해를 본다.. 샴페인을 까고싶으면 어딘가 적혀있는 샴페인을 그냥 사자.. 바로 파티가 열린다..

이제 필자가 추천하는것은 이렇다

사실 나는 LOVELOVE콤보가 가장 혜자라고 보는게 저걸 하나 시키고 다른 사람은 다른 음료 아무거나 1개(1인 1주문이므로)싼걸 시키면 약 3800-4000엔 사이가 된다. 그럼 그걸 두명이면 반띵을 하고 세명이면 삼띵을 하든가 하면 라이브랑 칵테일 퍼포먼스를 모두 즐기면서 최종가격도 2400-2600엔정도가 나오게 된다. 이제 여기서 라이브는 어짜피 1회추가에 1200엔이라고 적혀있으므로 인당 400-600엔씩 더내면 1곡씩 더 즐길수 있다.

즉, 인당 3000엔 밑으로 쓰면서 충분히 즐기고 가려면 밥을 먹고 들어와야하고 밥을 여기서 먹겠다고 한다면 모든걸 다 즐겼을 때 약 인당 4000엔을 내야 한다. 1000엔이면 진짜 맛있는 밥을 배부르게 먹을 수 있는 돈이라 여기서 굳이 오므라이스를 그가격에 먹을 필요는 없으나.. 앞에서도 말했지만 첫경험이라면 케챱그림서비스를 받아볼만도 하기에 고민해 볼 문제이다.

참고로 밥을 먹고 들어간 후 3명이서 킹콤보, 러브러브콤보, 풀코스를 시키면 인당 4410엔이 나온다. 5000엔이면 거기서 죽치고 놀 수 있다.

사진 선택시 사진은 기본적으로 800엔에 메이드 한명과 한장인데 자기 휴대폰으로 찍거나 폴라로이드로 찍을 수 있음 친구랑 같이 1장 찍어도됨 메이드만 1명이면 됨 1000엔짜리는 아마 폴라로이드 사진인데 큰 사진을 줄듯 근데 개인적으로 필터 잘끼는거 아니면 폴라로이드가 괜찮고 또 사진에 팬이용해서 꾸며주고 날짜도 메이드가 써주기 때문에 폴라로이드 추천

여성분들이 가고싶다면? 실제로 제가 카페안에 있을때 여성분들이 있던적이 항상 있었음! 단체로 6명씩 오기도 하고 2명이나 심지어 혼자오는 여성분도 계심 비율적으로 당연하게도 남성보다 높진 않지만 여튼 있다는거.. 참고로 남자는 주인님, 여자는 아가씨로 불러줌~

메이드리밍앱 이 앱이 있으면 어느 카페에 당일 언제 누가 있는지의 계획을 알 수 있고 메이드들의 블로그나 각종 이밴트등의 공지를 볼 수 있으며 포인트를 쌓아 메이드분들에게 아이탬(사주면 착용하고 일함)을 사주고 스탬프를 찍어 쿠폰처럼 2번모으면 음료수, 5번 모으면 칵테일 퍼포먼스 1회 이런식으로 쓸 수 있다.. 물론 자주는 못가지만 언젠가는..

이 어플은 기본적으로 일본에서만 사용가능하므로 설치하려면 먼저 VPN으로 일본IP를 얻은뒤 일본 구글계정 생성 후 그 계정으로 일본IP로 구글플레이스토어에 가서 설치해야한다. 설치한 후에는 VPN 필요없음!
