After visiting Dotonbori at night, I was looking for a place to have my dinner (at around 10pm). During this time, many places were closing and as I was walking, I stumbled upon this place. Shusaiya Nanairo serves an omakase menu and a tourist menu (in which I chose the tourist menu). Not sure if it was because I was a tourist but the food was not great. At the price advertised (5500 yen), I felt like the food could've definitely been better.
There was a waitress that could speak both Japanese and English and she helped me communicate with the Chef / Master who could only speak Japanese. Service was friendly.
However, do note that there are some hidden costs that you will incur from dining in this place which ruined the whole experience. First, there is a 500 yen sit-down fee that I was not aware of. Second, tea is chargeable (I assumed it was free because most places I have visited gave me tea for free), I refilled my glass 3 times which cost me 900 yen in total. Finally, even though the menu said 5500 yen (included tax), they still charged me a 10% tax which I was really not expecting. Doesn't 'included tax' mean that it is already part of the 5500 yen fee?
Do be aware of all this before you decide to come here.
Score updated on February 2025 because my experience in 2023 has been bugging me. Also, will be visiting Japan soon, I don't want to overly...
Read moreThe purchasing price didn’t match with the price shown on the menu! And it has been changed for 3 times. also, a small appetizer was claimed to sell for 2000 yen per person, we are 3 people so 6000yen in total, which is an additional cost after 10% service fee! We called the police for this make non sense cheating behavior, and we eventually paid 3000 yen total for additional charges. also, the restaurant has changed the price for alcohol and noodles to match the price on the menu. The final price was 6000 yen decreased from 22,500 yen. Bullshit and make no sense! See the pics for those garbage! shame on you! ridiculous experience...
