Ristorante e Pizzeria Santa Lucia — Restaurant in Osaka

The restaurant is only 2 minutes from the hotel where we are staying in (Voco Osaka Central). We had walked past it nearly every day and wanted to try it today. Despite haven’t over 5 empty tables this evening, the crew was super rude when we walked in to ask for a table for 5. The lady literally stomped out of the restaurant and shouted for the chef (whom I believe is the owner) while pointing at us in Japanese.

I understand that the chef was busy preparing the meals but he shouted from across the kitchen at us with what seemingly meant “Full! Full! Full!” And gestured for us to leave.

This is the first time in all my travels to Japan to experience such rude and hostile attitude from someone in the service industry. tThank goodness we found something better...

Rude chef, doesn’t treat clients with respect. The waiter was really kind and welcoming. When it comes to the food, the portions were extremely small. My partner ordered a lasagna which came with a plate of appetisers which were just alright. The lasagna itself was pitiful, the portion was literally one bite sized. For my part, I ordered a Santa Lucia pizza. Not even mentioning the horrendous price to quality ratio the pizza was basically swimming in juices and was extremely salty. Overall 3/10 experience. Enjoyed fantastic pizza from here 12 months ago when visiting Osaka so naturally when we came back again this year with additional 4 travellers we made plans to go again and get takeaway pizza however we opened the front door to be confronted by a ‘gentleman’ who we could only presume was the owner who was sitting on his motorbike smoking a cigarette who abruptly told us ‘not doing takeaway tonight’. Save your money for an appreciative Japanese restaurant rather than give it to that...
