I came to Ruggeri in Osaka seeking a simple scoop of gelato. What I found, however, was an existential crisis in a cup. From the very first bite, I was plunged into a delicious dreamscape, forcing me to repeatedly pinch myself to try and wake up. Surely, a taste this sublime is not possible to achieve in the waking world? Surely, I must be in a deep sleep, dreaming up the most perfect dessert imaginable. Let me be clear: this was not just ice cream. This was easily the best ice cream I have had in my entire life. Each spoonful of Ruggeri's gelato was an otherworldly experience – a creamy, intensely flavored revelation that defied all logic and expectation. The texture was impossibly smooth, melting on the tongue like a whisper, and the flavors (I tried a few, for scientific purposes, of course!) were so vibrant and true to their essence that it felt like tasting the very soul of the fruit or nut they were derived from. If you find yourself in Osaka, you owe it to your senses, and perhaps your sanity, to visit Ruggeri. Just be prepared to question your reality. You might walk in thinking you want a dessert, but you'll leave wondering if you've just experienced a brief, blissful visit to culinary nirvana. My only complaint? The rude awakening when I realized I actually was awake, and had to face a world where not all food...

My personal fav: Avocado, Mont Blanc
It was so good that I had 2 cups!

The second cup: (seasonal) jasmine tea with milk, (seasonal) bing cherry sherbet and (standard) mont blanc again.
In order of my liking:

🩷🩷🩷 Pistachio Pistachio is their 定番 most recommended item. They use the rarest pistachio that is only harvested every other year for the strongest flavor. The aroma of pistachio is indeed very strong and aromatic. However, too sweet to my liking. But I don’t like anything sweet so it’s just me. I would recommend pistachio to everyone who comes here the first time. It is a memorable taste.
Note: The shop is quite small. Only 8 seats. early morning-lunch time less crowded staff does not speak English.
They only have 3 standard flavors: Pistachio, chocolate hazelnuts, avocado & yogurt
All the other flavors: are seasonal. they change it...
Read moreI'm currently sitting in the Ruggeri ice cream parlor eating five scoops of ice cream, and the taste experience is fascinating. You can taste the fresh ingredients, the high quality, and the passion that went into their production. The ice cream flavors are not standard, very special; the courage to create them alone deserves the highest recognition. Anyone who gets involved and appreciates it will be taken on a journey of the senses. The ice cream tastes simply natural, balanced, and not overly sweet. The quality and flavor speak for themselves. This makes the average rating of 3.9 stars all the more inexplicable—completely incomprehensible, as any ice cream connoisseur would give this ice cream a clear 5. I've probably eaten over 1,000 scoops of ice cream in Tuscany, Italy. They have the best ice cream in the world, and Ruggeri's is definitely in the same category. A...
