Read moreI was just wandering around Osaka’s Sakaisuji Hommachi area when I stumbled on Shawarma House Halal Restaurant, and it was like tripping over a Middle Eastern food oasis! This place is super chill, like a street food stall plopped indoors, with Arabic tunes vibing in the background and pics of juicy shawarma plastered on the walls. Perfect for a quick lunch or a late-night munch. I went straight for the chicken shawarma wrap, and holy cow, it was amazing. The saj bread—thin, chewy, fresh off the grill—wrapped up this crazy flavorful chicken, spiced just right, like something you’d grab in a bustling market in Amman. The garlic sauce was so creamy, the tahini had this nutty kick, and the crunchy pickled turnips and cukes Total game-changer. It’s not messy, but in the best way, and at about a good price yen, it’s a bargain for Osaka. I also tried the plate, and those crispy, fries were unreal, paired with fluffy rice, a fresh salad, and hummus so good I wanted to lick the plate. Portions are huge, so don’t eat before you go! The staff were awesome.
It’s not fancy, just a cozy spot with a few tables, but that’s what makes it feel so legit. If you’re a tourist looking for halal eats or just need a break from sushi and katsu, this place is where it’s at. I’m already craving...
Read moreI placed my order on UberEats around 10:40 PM. It arrived at 11:57 PM. Yes, you read that right — over 1 hour later.
But hey, the fun doesn’t stop there! Despite explicitly requesting cutlery, guess what wasn’t included? Exactly. No fork, no knife, no chopstick, nothing. Just a fully wrapped pack staring at me like, “Good luck, buddy.”
Now, I’m sure the owners would respond with something super original like: “Well, you could’ve found some cutlery and eaten it anyway.” Brilliant! Except no, I couldn’t. Because — spoiler alert — if I’m ordering food at almost midnight, maybe it’s because I’m stuck in a hotel room and can’t just go hunting for forks in the wild. I don’t eat with my hands, and I shouldn’t have to justify that.
Attached is a photo taken the next day: my untouched, still-sealed meal — a beautiful reminder of my midnight disappointment.
And if you’re thinking, “Well, did you try contacting them?” Oh, I did.
The ‘Contact Us’ page on their website doesn’t work. I sent a polite message on Instagram. It’s been 3 days. No reply. Not even a “sorry.”
So here I am, writing this review — not out of anger, but out of public service: Don’t order from this place. Just don’t.
Unless you enjoy eating invisible cutlery and waiting until midnight for a kebab...
