Sumibi Yakitori Gonbei Minamimorimachi — Restaurant in Osaka

Gonbei is one of those classic Osaka spots that reminds you why this city is so special at night. The moment you walk in, you feel that warm, cozy, izakaya energy — the smell of grilled skewers, the sound of laughter, and the friendly staff shouting welcomes as you enter.

The food is excellent — perfectly grilled yakitori with just the right amount of charcoal flavor, juicy chicken, crispy skin, and great seasoning. The menu is big enough that you can try something new every time. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) and negima are amazing, and the beer always comes ice-cold. Prices are fair for the quality, and portions are generous.

The service here is fast, cheerful, and authentic — you can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. Even if you don’t speak Japanese, the staff are patient and friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming to everyone.

It’s the kind of place where you can come solo, with friends, or even after a long day of work and just unwind. Gonbei captures that old Osaka spirit — loud, tasty, and full of character. Definitely one of my go-to places in Minami for real local flavor...
