Yummy-delicious! The staff were friendly and professional, always serving with a smile. It was a pleasure to watch the chef work and prepare each of the items. We ordered the standard 10-course lunch menu at 5000 yen per pax.
Knowing that we're foreigners, the chef tried his best to explain in english what each item were, and about Edo-style sushi. My wife (with some japanese knowledge) tried to translate the japanese terms, while the foodie that is me connected the dots as to what each item were, and explain back to the wife in english. I had a feeling that they were pretty entertained by our antics...
Nevertheless, we enjoyed our time there. The seafood are so fresh and well prepared, that even the wife who is normally more picky about eating raw fish, found them delicious.
Our favourites were the squid (with japanese lime and salt) and Aji. The squid was definitely a surprise; it's plain and chewy back here Singapore, but the combination of lime and salt employed by the chef made it infinitely more delicious.
The unagi was soft and most palatable, and the tuna lacked any fishy smell that you may expect from the Tuna Nigiri from Sushi Express etc (in Singapore).
But really... all of them were soooooo good...
Did I mention the sushi rice used was seasoned in red rice vinegar, and it gave it a subtle yet delicious umami flavour? That right, subtle and delicious, lacking any sharp tangs that white vinegar...
Read moreThe counter seats were already booked and only table was available that was actually a small private room that we enjoyed our meals there. We ordered a sushi dinner course each. All the sushi were very fresh and delicious that melted In mouth. I especially enjoyed the shrimp, squid and toro. Two different parts of shrimp which are head and tail. The head has sweet taste and the tail has rich flavor. Shrimp sushi is one of my fave.
They also have great Japanese sake selection.
The staff brought a small matcha dessert along with the main dessert (strawberry mochi with thin wafers), and he said this was from the restaurant manager as apology for the loud customers at the counter. We noticed that the noisy customers but didn’t complain. They were also aware of the loud customer issues.
The staff were very polite and professional. You can experience of authentic Japanese sushi here. They are located in Conrad hotel building. It might be hard to find the restaurant as they only set up a small sign and menu stand by the entrance that is written in Japanese. If you look for authentic Japanese sushi experience this is the...
Read moreWas surprised to find a restaurant that take a 1 person booking 🤩 as I had a lot of difficulty booking other places in.
Restaurant was easy for find if you take the escalator from the metro exit, takes you straight to 2/F of the Festival Tower West.
The dinner started off with scallops sitting in a beautiful bowl of flowers. Every piece of fish was so fresh, I really enjoyed the omakase set ! I especially loved the uni, kohada, chuturo and the spanish mackerel. The egg omelette was cooked beautifully, not sure how they could achieve the spongy texture. The clear soup and dessert were a good ending to the dinner.
Top notch service by their friendly staff - everyone was so polite and smiley. Chef 前川 couldnt speak a lot of English, but he still engaged with me. He also brought out a table with the english translations of the fish, which was a nice touch by the restaurant and himself.
Great...
