My wife and I stayed 5 nights at Hotel The Flag and have nothing but good things to say about this fabulous hotel and its diligent and dedicated staff members. From the moment you stepped into the level 2 check-in area, you immediately feel welcomed as you are greeted. As I had a last minute call at 2.30 pm on the day of my check in to the hotel, I emailed the hotel in the middle of the night before my check in date while I was in Arima onsen area to request for early check in at 2. 15 pm or earlier (check-in time is 3.00 pm). I received a reply within 2 hours that they would try but could not guarantee. In any case, they said I was welcome to use the lounge for the call and have access to free hotel WiFi. When I arrived at the hotel at 1.00pm and gave them my name, the reception staff (Ruka and Ishikawa) told me with a smile that your room is ready. That really made my day. Both Ruka san and Ishikawa san and other receptionists were most helpful when we had questions or when we needed help to make restaurant reservations. The cleaning staff are also very polite. They would greet guests when they walk past you. The rooms are good size by Japanese standard. Everything in the room works perfectly. There's a lounge area where guests can have coffee and tea 24 hours. There's also a laundry area with washers and dryers at very reasonable rates. I must mention the breakfast. The spread is excellent, comparable to some 5 star hotels. The staff members are constantly topping up the food and clearing and cleaning up to make sure guests have a pleasant environment to enjoy their breakfast. Location is also convenient with 2 subway stations within a few minutes' walk and Shinsaibashi shopping street 5 minutes away. This is truly a 3/4 star hotel with 5 star service and value. We will certainly stay here again when we next...
Read moreTwo Australian adult travellers that stayed for a week. Location is fantastic, extremely close to the train stations, and has hotel parking (if you're hiring a car). I wouldn't recommend the breakfast buffet because although there's a good range of variety in offerings, at roughly $20pp you're better off ($ wise) getting yoghurt and fruit from the Family Mart's nearby. The room has a small fridge which was ample for yoghurt, milk, and assorted treats. No bath for the double bed room, but shower was fantastic size with great warmth and pressure (if you're a stickler for a good shower at the end of the day, you won't be disappointed). The glass doors to the balcony only open a smidge and are opaque so it can feel a bit closed in, but you soon get accustomed and we didn't have much issue with it. The air con works well, pretty quiet and did not disturb our sleep but we did put a bandaid over the bright light as it is directly above the bed 😅😅 The room's fairly quiet but you can hear neighbour shower/water and sometimes voices from the street. But we never had interrupted sleep on any night, we always slept very well! Firm mattress of good size for a couple. Pillows on softer side.
The staff were incredibly polite and friendly, they have a board that denotes what days have staff on with language proficiency (always English available). Courtesy coffee/tea and library, waiting room for while your laundry is on. Smoking room next to laundry. Machines are easy to use and take about 2 hours for a small load to wash then run a dry cycle. Complimentary umbrellas were available too. Room refreshes were prompt and well done.
Overall I think most Aussies would be very comfortable here, and I will stay again if we return...
Read moreI have nothing but great things to say about this hotel. This was the best and most memorable hotel that we had stayed at during our 3 week trip in Japan! We were greeted with kindness and smiling faces upon arrival. This hotel is very tourist friendly because all the staff were super helpful and speaks English well. The hotel staff here knew that we were on our honeymoon, and they were so kind and accommodating toward us. Our room was ready before check in time but they allowed us to check in early. They even offered us complimentary breakfast buffet vouchers to use any day we want, which is very generous and thoughtful of them! The breakfast buffet was DELICIOUS!! I was blown away by the quality and selections that they had. It was a combination of western and Japanese cuisine; we really enjoyed their buffet. The hotel is very clean. The location was perfect. As soon as you step out, there are bars and restaurants along the streets. It was in a very ideal and convenient location that was within walking distance to everything that you need. A short walk to Dotonbori, but far enough where you don't hear all the chaos. The rooms were very modern, comfortable and spacious for a Japanese hotel room. We were here during the very hot summer days, and the air conditioning works great! The hotel provides complimentary coffee and refillable water bottles for guests to make their stay convenient. They even have a washer and dryer room to do your laundry, so convenient! We were VERY pleased with our stay here and highly recommend this hotel! They definitely understand the definition of comfort and hospitality. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay and kindness...
