A lovely local family run tempura restaurant with over 20 years of experience. The place is really clean and the place offers real cloth wet towels, high quality bamboo chopsticks. Wasn’t expecting a glass of barley tea as part of their complimentary service but makes this place so much nicer than having just water or having to pay for tea. These little details make for an high quality experience. I asked for just vegetables without fish cake or shrimp and extra rice - the proprietor was more than happy to make the adjustments. The chef starts preparing the tempura right in front of us once we order. We can see the fresh vegetables and the extremely clean kitchen up close and personal. I know nothing about cooking or tempura, but this place has fresh vegetables and uses really nice oil as the food was amazing - lightly battered, perfectly fried, and after having a big meal, I was still hungry fro more. Will make this my regular tempura restaurant moving forward. If you want a unique tempera experience, you can come in the evening for an omakase course. If one needs Halal, if you make reservations and come in the evening, they can provide halal...
Read moreLoved this place!!! Was recommended by a long-term Osaka foreign resident friend, and it did NOT disappoint! I went on a slow night, and for most of the time I was the only person there. I loved this couple... they are both so funny and friendly: such a nice change to the all-business, typical vibe of the rest of Osaka.
I took a tasting menu option of basically ALLLLL of the tempura, since I'm a fat, hungry, curious Gaijin!
They were both so cool, and curious as to where I was from, what I was doing in Japan, who told me to come there, and all the rest.
Obviously not the healthiest dining option, but it was SOOOOOO effing delicious and satisfying on the cold January night I visited.
You'll see many of the items I tried in the pictures, but what I will NEVER forget is the tempura egg yolk that the chef dropped into my dipping sauce bowl and told me to just drink all of it! It was the last bite of the menu, and I won't EVER...
Read moreI had been looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. One of the main issues was the fried food—it had a noticeably dark brown color and a slightly burnt taste, which made me wonder if the oil used hadn’t been changed in a while. Instead of having that light, crispy texture you’d expect from freshly fried dishes, everything felt a bit greasy and heavy.
The flavor was affected by the oil quality, and it really took away from what could have been an enjoyable meal. It’s unfortunate because the place seemed promising at first, and I was genuinely excited to try it. I understand that sometimes things can go wrong in the kitchen, but food quality, especially when it comes to frying, is something I believe makes a big difference in the overall dining experience.
I hope this was just an off day, but based on this visit, I don’t think I’ll be returning...
